      Just a quickie to ask you lot who you think is the best player you have had the opportunity to watch grace a football field.

      It doesn't have to be a Spurs player and anything that they have done off the field is irrelevant.

      Pure and simple who is the best and what decade are we talking about?

      For me I will have to kick off with Zinadene Zidane in the 1990's . Realistically we are talking last decade and a small portion of this one, but there wasn't a player who could touch him for me. It may surprise a few that I didn't opt for Genaro but this fella was different gravy completely.

      Your thoughts....................

      I am going to say Hoddle and Gazza. I know they are both Spurs but that is the reason I chose them, because I watched them play week in week out and they always made things happen. Hoddles' passing and free kicks and Gazzas' dribbling skills will live in my memory forever.

      Geoege Best probably the best player in the world at the time, but only got European football so wasn't as recognised worldwide. I'd say he was better than both Pele & Prima donda.

      The best for Spurs was Hoddle.

      Others that came close were Greaves, Gazza & Klinsman, but Hoddle was something else and did it over a longer period of time.

      Hi, for me it will be Hoddle. Never had a chance to see him live though. Best player I saw live was Bebeto from Brazil.

      hoddle is why i support spurs... damn him...
      very few players made me go "whoaaaa look at that pass" quite as often as he did - sheer bloody class..
      few more that i have liked over the years would be zz , loved watching figo and sorry but cantona was so crackers you had to love him

      btw read on another football forum that apparently when hoddle was playing for england robson sent him to warm up behind the goals in the second half - didn't get brought on though and robson later admitted to have forgotten all about him!!!

      Have to agree on the Zidane decision - worldwide.

      At Spurs Ginola was special to me. Yes I am female but am talking about his footballing skills!

      Ginola was pretty special and was lucky enough to have caught a game at the Lane while he was still playing (I'm not old like most in this thread and didn't get the chance to see Hoddle & Gazza LIVE at the lane ;o) )

      80's = Maradona/ Rush
      90's = Zidane/ Gazza/ Bebeto/ Dunga (majority early 90's)/ Giggs
      00's = Ronaldo (Brazilian)/ Ronaldinho/ Gerrad/ Bale (would have said Ramsey, but hate the scum - although he is great)

      I've mentinoed Welshmen because they were my favourite national players...
      Harry Hotspur, Harry Houdini or Harry Happy... I call him Harry Hallilulia..!

      Players I have enjoyed watching the most are probably Ginola (legend), Hagi and C. Ronaldo (he is a diving little winker but class), but there are so many I've loved watching over the years. Very difficult to choose a favouirite though!

      I saw Gazza at the lane when i was extremely young. Gazza for me was the best.

      Ginola was always awesome to watch as well.

      Another player that i used to love watching... was Faustino Asprilla... or something like that. Little guy from cameroon who played for newcastle.
