Is Bentley taking the majority of the set pieces? I watched the game online today, and he seems like he shanks more than he puts into harm's way. Is he the best option?
u kidding? bentley put in some great set pieces today. his crosses are of very high quality
i read somewhere bentley had something like 20 assists for blackburn last year so yeah he can cross it. bale is also pretty handy from set pieces also
Bently is brilliant on set pieces, every cross is a threat for opposition... Need more work on direct free kicks imho
Come on you Spurs
Surely he is, he early got to assists today with Pavlyuchenko and Campbell!
the only problem i saw yesterday was the lame attempt with huddlestone on the edge of the box. we should have those sort of situations worked out on the training park witha couple of options
When the ball is about 20-25yds out. Instead of having a crack on goal which is unlikely we should try and mix it up and try some more diverse things.
For example having on guy stand at the ball and someone like bentley 10feet back looking like he is gonna have a shot.
The whistle blows and bentley starts his run up... But just before he hits it the guy at the ball hits a cheeky little scooped shot over the wall for someone to get onto. Or plays a tactical pass to someone just drifting off of the wall.
Hard to explain.
Tottenham Hotspur - A Life Long Labour of Love.
Anyone who understands the game knows what your talking about Nick!
And for what it's worth, I agree with you. It would be nice to mix it up a little bit with set pieces, however, if the ball is 20 or so yards out anywhere at the top of the box, the primary option should be to put the ball on target directly off the kick.
Playing a bit differently to compliment the situation suits me fine and should be done! However, I just can't stand when clubs are constantly playing short balls and trying to be tricky. Put the ball in the box, and get the players in the box...proven method to goal scoring! May be an old school philosophy for a 23 yr old, but it works!
"The great fallacy is that the game is first and foremost about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."
-Danny Blanchflower
Bazza you forgot D) go into the back of the net, thank you very much!
I guess I haven't seen enough, living in the states has its disadvantages, but his corners look shaky.
Huddlestone should take direct shots at goal and Bentley for cross free-kicks and ones that are too far out to shoot.
Club Director: "The trouble with you is that you think you know all the answers." Blanchflower: "Ah, God love you, you don't even know the questions!" Tottenham til I die!!
Hopefully someone can put a head on one.
If they get Pavlyuchenko on the end of every cross he makes then we would be winning a lot more from set pieces... Pav is really good in the air!
Agreed, I have been impressed with him, actually most of the lads, Harry has got them playing well. Sometimes I worry there are not enough pure finishers, but maybe they just need more time.
