Throughout this year Bale has provided great support going forward, but his defensive skills in the back haven't been real strong.
Do you think he will develop his defensive skills, or would he maybe be better suited to play as a holding midfielder?
His attacking skills are more important at the moment i think. Left midfielder for me is fine.
Can't smile without you!
Develop Gareth as a left winger, and buy a new full back I'd say.
Agreed, Bale for me (and Wales) is a Left midfielder...
Harry Hotspur, Harry Houdini or Harry Happy... I call him Harry Hallilulia..!
He has aspirations of playing left mid but if he stays disceplined and sits at the back doing his job he is emmense!!!
We need to either sign a stallwart LB or an amaising LM and define his roll. If we go for the latter he may consider his options and do one to another club. But there are better LMs out there and not many better LBs.
Bale is playing out of place for sure. Last night i didnt think he was at his usual level. Hes been playing quite different lately. Anyone think so?
I thought he was really good last night, id say hes more a LM than a LB but harry has more options at LM, and at LB its prob either bale or BAE.
thought he kept messin up on continuous occassions. Looked out of place but im sure in LM he would do us justice.
i heard harry was looking at wayne bridge so he must have plains to push bale up feild wich seems like a gd idea bale played well LM in pre season and on other occasions
Definitely not holding midfielder! He would not cut it in the centre of the pitch, and his best weapon is his left peg anyway. Maybe in fifteen years he could do a Giggs and use the experience he's amassed to play in the centre, but not yet.
When he signed I said he was best suited to a left wing spot. Plenty of the Saints fans I know down here said the same thing.
I would rather he played there, but given the lack of any quality we have a left back, right now he should be pressed into service there. Admittedly, BAE has looked better since Redknapp took over, but I've never rated him very highly.
If there was a quality left back purchase in the offing - Bridge, say - I would be happy to see Bale pushed into service on the left wing. Then you have to decide how to keep O'Hara and Lennon happy though.....!
Decisions decisions.
I think hes a LB but likes going forward which can be useful![]()

Xactly that, O'hara did brilliant last nite, i'd like 2 c how many miles he ran for the cause
he is a left mid. he has brilliant pace and decent crossing. his clearance are horrible as hell and he always goes out of position when defending the left. when he dribbles all the way from the backline to the fornt, he oftens runs out of strength when he crosses. he is a born LW
