This takes the P (and noticed I used a capital!)
City's owners have apparently approached Jose's representatives & offered him a staggering £15m /year to be their manager! Its a little bit harsh considering they only just publicly backed Mark Hughes & his vision for the club. It kind of reminds me of our own pursuit of Ramos & treatment of Jol.
However, I'm in 2 minds as to whether they will be successful in there bid for Mourinho. Jose shouldn't be seduced by money, he certainly wasn't at Chelsea & his inability to secure full control over his team eventually saw him walk out. He will surely see similarities with the job on offer at City. Also, Jose likes the glamour & the high-life. He had that at Chelsea, even before they were a CL club & he's got it now at Milan but City? No matter how rich its owners are it will always be a working man's club & exist in the shadow of its illustrious neighbour.
I don't think Jose would like to play 2nd fiddle to Fergie however much you pay him, its not his style.
Having said all that... £15m/year! It is a hell of a lot of money isn't it!

Thats unreal , i would have liked to see what he could have done with a club with hardly any cash, bloke lands on his feet every time, although i know he'll do a good job and i do like the fella it does get to me a little bit.........Not to worry we have HarryHotspur !!!!!!
I can't help but feel sorry for Sparky tho. He's hardly been treated with much respect since he arrived at Eastlands. They went all out to get him from Blackburn where he was perfectly happy. He then had that whole palaver over his criminal chairman, then gets all the money he could possibly ever want only to lose an element of control over the players he's buying to the new Saudi owners & now he get reassurance off them only to have them approach Mourinho behind his back.
You have to wonder that when the new owners arrived saying they wanted to replace the likes of Dunne (who have been superb for the club) because they want a team of international superstars, Sparky's days were numbered as that no doubt included the manager &, altho Hughes is very good & proven in the Prem, he is not a megastar in the managerial world.

I have to agree with Bass on this one. I can't possibly see Mourinho leaving Milan. The first thing that came to my mind when I read the thread title was exactly what bass said in his post. Jose loathes a footballing system that takes all the control out of his hands and that is essentially what he got during his tenure at the Bridge and ultimately that's a big part of why he left! Had he had full control of all things football related at Chelski, I suspect that he'd still be there right now!
I can't possibly see him leaving Milan to go to City, where he would most certainly be overshadowed by his counterpart in the "rich" side of town, and be subjected toa situation that's shaping up to be 10 times worse than what he left Chelski for.
The new City owners are from Abu Dhabi I do believe. If you've ever been to the UAE and Saudi, there is a BIG difference!
It is just a rumour at the moment from what I can make out anyway.
I imagine, if it came to pass that the approach was bona-fide, that there would be some attraction for Jose. He has stated more than once that he'd be happy to return to the Premier League at some stage. Maybe he was thinking as manager of ManUre?!
Leave that aside though. Near enough limitless funds and an opportunity to 'get one over' on Fergie and the red half. Reckon he's the sort of bloke that would be up for that kind of challenge, although the 'aura' of City may not be to his liking.
Stuff it. For £15m/year, I'd do it!
Mate, you are TOTALLY right! I couldn't remember where they were from. I was going to check but couldn't be bothered, so I guessed & completely got it wrong! My bad. What do you call somebody from the UAE then? A UAEcian?
Anyway, apparently Jose is very unhappy in Italy. He is upset with the Italian press, calling them disrespectful & is unimpressed by the lack of passion from the fans.
What I think a little disgusting about the whole affair (on City's part) is that he was supposedly contacted as long as 5 months ago! If that's the case they obviously never really wanted Sparky in the 1st place & that's a little out of order. They appointed him, they should stick with him. Otherwise they ought to have stayed with Ericsson until Jose said he come.
This Al Mubarak bloke is going to turn the Premiership into a joke!

jose mourinho actually said he was frustrated by managing chelsea as he or the team would never get the credit for their achievements , abramovic would and his millions !!!
so it would be a little hypicritical for him to go to man city just to be in the same position , now if he did turn it down as a matter of principle my estimation of him would go through the roof .
but hey , this is the real world and we will be facing the special one next season .
him and god knows who else after january !!!

Yeah, they'll probably buy Ricky Hatton as a replacement for Dunne in CD!

!5 million - So What! WE'VE GOT ARRY. HE'S PRICELESS![]()
I'll be very surprised if any of those ever go to City, no matter what the fee. Ronaldinho already turned them down despite them spending over half the summerr trying to persuade him & offering him double the wages he got at Barca &, like, triple the wages he now gets at Milan (the club he chose over City).
Buffon has already said he'll never leave Juve for City however much they offer.
I don't think Robinho really wanted to go there but Real just wanted rid of him & he wanted out of the Bernabeau. How long he'll stay while they're hanging around the relegation zone is debatable.
KaKa turned down a HUGE offer from Chelsea over the summer, he's hardly likely to go for Man City instead.
I think they've got their head in the clouds.

This is a stupid amount of money and i think Mourinho would jump at this offer.
However i am unsure why they would want too get him. His record at chelsea wasn't the best. Its not hard to manage a team with that quality.
I can't help but think city want to build a team of stars not a team of winners...
Tottenham Hotspur - A Life Long Labour of Love.
They do know that they've bought City & not United don't they?
Good Afternoon, I think if Mourinho goes to City, their owners
know with him in charge, they have more chance of luring the
big players that they want. Talk of £50 million bids for Torres,
and pay of £200k a week will turn heads. Liverpool like a lot
of other teams who have big debts, may not be able to turn the
massive money down.
True slim, but while a player is still under contract both party's have to agree the same outcome. Most of these sort of players won't want to go to City even for £100m. None of them are poor to begin with anyway & want to big at big clubs playing top football & until City can provide that these players won't come. Clubs may want to sell them for £50m or whatever but the player may refuse the personal contract & his current club would have to honour his contract & allow him to stay.
