Fabio is considering a call up for Darren over Michael Owen. As we all know Darren has been on fire recently & I feel he absolutely deserves another shot in an England Jersey. Owen has been short of match fitness & only played 20 min on the w/end. He also missed an absolute sitter that had Capello head in hands. Darren is joint top scorer with Nicolas Anelka with 11 goals in all competitions & we desperately need a goalscorer at international level.
Spurs striker Darren Bent to get England call-up over Michael Owen - mirror.co.uk
King and Bongani,
King and Bongani bong!!
(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?
Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!
Rafael, Van Der Vaart
ƒuck Chelsea & Frank Lampard
with a nick-nack paddywhack he'll be getting goals
when Lampard's too fat & old

Bout time more spurs p;ayers broke onto the england sceane![]()
This is great news for Darren. Well done mate!
he deserves it he has been banging in the goals for fun lately and I think he is the top english maksman at the moment with j.defoe.......................
Cooooooome ooooooooon uuuuuuu spuuuuuuuurz
arty:
Don't take this the wrong way buddies but I hope he doesn't. The last thing we need now, with the way he's been playing, is for him to get crocked on international duty.
Otherwise, well done.
You say that Essex but also think of it this way: he's scoring cos his finding his confidence again. Nothing gives you more confidence than an England call-up & then think what if he scores! His confidence will go thru the roof & he'll get a hat-trick every game! Well, maybe not.

I agree with this to a point, but what if he has a poor game misses a sitter he has the whole county on his back. Look what happened to Robbo, playing a blinder for us, had a few poor games for England (I hate Gary Neville) and it nigh on ruined him. When we didn't qualify for the 2008 Euro's he got booed at some grounds.
I'd like to see him get a call up and maybe come on as a Sub, but not start the game. I'm being a selfish Spurs fan on this one.
Sorry for the rant but I think Robbo was a Yiddo at heart and I wish now he never played for England. I just don't want the same to happen to Bent (or any other Spurs player). I think any player who earns the right should play for his country but not at the expense of his club career or reputation.

Well done Darren!
I dont htink he will cut the mustard on the big stage.
But he has rammed my words down my throat before and i sinceerly hope he does it again.
Theres only one Darren Bent.
The problem with people getting on players backs after a poor England performance is the media. Do you remember the same hysterical reactions back around Mexico '86, for example? Was Ray Wilkins vilified for getting sent off? Or even Italia '90? There we obviously the penalty misses, but even so, it was hardly a case of ridicule.
These days every little error, every mistake, everything, is analysed in minute detail, and we have nobody to thank for this other than the media. Robbo is one example. Calamity James another. Look at the treatment dished out to Ashley Cole - much as I dislike the bloke, it was not necessary.
The same even applies to Gomes - although last nights two piss poor efforts leading to Liverpool goals didn't sit well with me.
The point is, that should Bent miss a sitter that means England lose, it will be the media spotlight that shatters him - or anybody else. Looks, very often, that the media are just waiting to pounce because they have nothing better to do.
It never used to be like that when you played for England.
