Just gone through the sports pages online and the notw is reporting a return for Venables to the Lane for god sake ok so it`s the notw but if there was a grain of truth in this story it`d be one hell of another backward step. Why does Venables get this messiah tag yes he did a job but that was in the 90`s and the games moved on a hell of a lot since then so i dont see the point the one good thing about it though is apparently he`d replace Comolli oh if only. :sheep:
Since we decided to go with a director of football I have seen nothing but in house fighting and disagreements. Why do we have to persist with this set up? If we do have to continue this way, then why not Venables? I think if he came as manager it would be a big step backwards but as director of football it would be a step forward considering where we are right now. Lets not forget where it is written and realise that we are only speaking hyperthetically!!
I think Venables instead of Camoli would be great anyone but Camoli
sorry ??? im confused !!! is el tel supposed to be coming in as sporting director or manager (supposedly) sporting director ? no chance . manager ? the game has moved on since these guys managed in the past , bad idea .
though if you fancy a flutter you could get 8 - 1 on him taking over !!!

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and foremost about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."
-Danny Blanchflower
Yes the game has moved on but it's not like he's been locked in a cupboard since he last managed. He's heavily involved in punditing and match evaluations, yes it is nothing like being a manager but he's finger is still on the pulse of modern day football. He still knows the market and his stuff tactically. If Ramos really does go beyond a point of no return then I wouldn't mind seeing Venables in the hot seat again. It's not like there's an array of quality managers out there at present hey? Kinnear at Newcastle for example.
anything is beta than wat we got now????
Only a short time ago I was laughing my tits off at Newcastle bringing back their 'Messiah', and continued laughing as it all went pear shaped for them. This reeks of the same thing and would make us look as ridiculous as they did (do).
If it was going to happen though I would rather see Comolli and Ramos replaced and ditch the DoF system altogether. I can't see Tel playing second fiddle at the lane and it would just mean there would be even less respect for Ramos from the players.
The other name mentioned is Avram Grant. This doesn't inspire me much either though he has a pretty study history for results. Boring though...
Can you see Ramos turning this around? Is a change inevitable? I think so.
Ramos needs more time and he'll get us out of trouble.
We change things now and we'll be in more trouble than we are now!
We've got virtually a brand new team and they are not going to gel overnight!
How much more time do you give this clueless clown, were going down at this rate.
Any one in including Tel now will give us a fighting chance.
F*ck Stratford!!!!
I think Venables would be the perfect replacement. We need a tactically sound manager who can inspire and Tel is both them things and has a passion for us with history.
