terry venables reckons its berbatovs fault ? not in my opinion levy/cammoli knew berbatov was going for a long time , and had plenty of time to secure replacements , also fundamentally our biggest downfall is having a manager tat does not understand the league he plays in and plays his players out of position , even if berbatov was still here ramos would probably play him upfront by himself and isolate him from the game (idiot)
his tactics dont work he is quickly loosing the respect and faith of the team and he has already lost the fans .
the sooner ramos leaves the better.
i respect terry venables and like him !!! but hes wide off the mark here

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and foremost about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

Totally agree mate! Well wide of the mark shows how much he knows about it - Berb never played for us so hes no sad loss in my eyes.
Notice hes up to his old tricks at ManU as well - great to see! Now Keano thats a different story, he'll live to regret it I reckon.
:bath:
I was thinking today would the season have started better if we got in the replacements Ramos wanted? He has been after the same players for ages...
Personally i dont feel berbatov ruined our season... If anything Comolli ruined it by not getting in the players we needed.
Berbatov should of been aloud to leave right at the start of the transfer window to allow us to get a replacement and give him time to settle down and gel with the teamIn my oppinion venebles is wrong!
Berbatov leaving was not the problem, the problem was that we lost him and Keane and 40+ goals between them and yes ok not gettin decent replacements was an even bigger problem, but even if we had got another striker in i still think we would be in this situation as it would take time for them to bed in with a manager who just seems to be struggling to cope with the English premiership, imo Ramos is out of his depth and losing them 2 just made it worse you just cannot lose the that amount of goals a season and expect everything to be better!
There is only one person to blame in all of this - Comolli. It is time for him to go before he destroys our great club if he hasn't already.
I have some agreement with El Tel, that poxy Bulgarian didnt help us by bascially refusing to play in our first few games, Venables has the club at heart and an attack on that greedy c*nt is more than justified.
I say well done Tel.
F*ck Stratford!!!!
he has a point their, but we have seasoned professionals at the club who need to get on with the job instead about moping about berba and keane..........these guys are getting paid well at spurs, their performances have to be better. for the people who pay their wages week in week out
Cooooooome ooooooooon uuuuuuu spuuuuuuuurz
arty:
Berbatov and Keane leaving obviously hurt the team in terms of goals, but it doesn't at all explain the poor play in other areas of the game. I don't know about anyone else, but I have been completely dumbfounded when the lineup is listed for most of the games. So many times I have failed to see the logic of why certain players are in certain positions. Who knows... one of these days we might see Giovani in goal, Bent at CB, and Gomes playing striker.
Couldn't do much harm at the minute...
I believe Terry has a point to an extent but we all knew Berbatov would be leaving this summer, there's no way Levy/Commolli didn't anyway. So replacements should have been brought in. More than just pava and much earlier in the transfer window.
Personally I believe our midfield will improve as they get playing time with each other, hopefully in their proper positions with a familiar team playing week in week out. Our defense may improve but Hutton coming back will probably help more than anything else (bar King making a full recovery). That just leaves our attack, we desperately need 2 quality strikers who can play together. Pava or Bent may qualify but I haven't seen them on the pitch at the same time yet so can't comment. Tho I'm sure I would have heard about it if they had played together and done so well.
Sorry for going off at a bit of a tangent but I haven't been posting much recently and that covers a few things.
But overall I don't blame Berbatov for our position, I blame the people who knew he was going and didn't do a good enough job of replaceing him.
"It's no use just winning, we've got to win well."
I read the article in the paper and must say i was very convinced with the way he put things. Footballers can be selfish ****ers.
its everyone's fault...
ramos for not not playing a more consistant squad (he's rotating a severely shallow squad, which is essentially all he knows. if he played a consistant line up injuries would in my eyes surely worsen the situation), commoli and levy for not bringing in the required players, (the forward link of arshavin would have been pretty much the best element to work with bent and pav, for one example.) it's the players fault for being continually affected by the situation and to some extent also thier fault for lack of fitness, (some more obviously than others), and it's also our fault for not supporting the team as wholly as we can. a takeover may be on the cards, and as such we can possibly look forward to brighter days, or perhaps worse. though i feel if we were to oust ramos (and in my eyes destabilise the situation further, possibly end up back i the days where all the players were fat ****s) we'd have to get rid of all the abovementioned parties too. who in effect are all contributing to this ****ing awful situation.

I think El Tel is just trying to kiss the backside of Levy/Comolli in the crazy hope they will consider him when Ramos goes.![]()
I have to agree with yidno1, Berbatovs' antics made me sick!! He sulked at the start of last season cos he never got his way and cost us points then, this year he refuses to play. I 'm glad to see the back of him!! He may be a great player and will probably be brilliant for Man U, but if I was one of his team mates I think I would have had to give him a good kick up the arse. The irony is, had he played for us against Chelsea and we had won he would have been doing his new club a favour.
That said, I think Venners is showing him to much respect to think that our bad start is largely down to him. Were we really a one man team??
