i dont know about you guys / girls but i am well impressed with the contributuion woodgate has given the team since his arrival .
to me he behaves like a captain on the pitch if ledders is going to miss many more games this season would it not be prudent to promote woodgate to this role ?
dont get me wrong ledley is a massive part of the team and the team play better with him , but how much is he really going to play .
i have decided to resurect this thread as i believe this situation is actually starting to hold us back !!!
is the fact that ledley our leader, our captain ,the main man in our team not playing half the time is the fact our captain undermining his role ? i believe this is true a captain needs to be out there fighting the teams corner every week diving infront of every shot , putting his body ob the line every week .
are we getting this from ledley ? do chelskea get this from terry ? yes do man city get this from dunne ? yes do liverpool get this from gerard ? yes .
it is for this reason i believe ledley is actually becoming a liability to the team , so now is the time for him to take a back seat and allow woodgate to take the helm .

I'm all for giving the captaincy to Woodgate.
Bummer for King, but he just doesn't play very much.
Deffo, great shout. Trouble is that we wont keep him if the rest dont pull their socks up.
Could not agree with you more, mate! His is definitely a quality leader on the pitch and certainly deserves the nod! If not for captain, at least vice. Not sure if JJ still is still given this honor, but as of late he has not deserved it!

He would be a exceptional captain, woody plays like one in every game he`s been in since he arrived .Ledley has done a fine job when he`s been needed mind but he is not playing week in week out ..so woody should get the shout .
I'm sure he does everything a captain would do anyway, he is a leader and it's great to have someone like that in defence for when King isn't around.
I was surprised that Ramos made JJ captain instead of Woodgate.
i posted in an earlier post he rarly plays . that was on his past injury history but has been a revelation for spurs.great leader why not captain deserves it hpe he stays fit .

Yeh he's a great defender but would he really be a great captain...I can't really see him shouting at players or setting people straight if they do something wrong.

And Ledley does? Is called leading by example...Its a captains job to encourage not berate

We need to make woodgate captain, king isnt any good as our captain now he doesnt play.
We need a captain that plays regularly and so far the only person even remotely worthy is woodgate.
I'd like to see king come back and play regularly but we all know its not going to happen and its not doing our defnce any favours by changing the setup every game so we should stop paying him player wage's and offer him some other role at the club, then we should make woodgate captain then put corluka next to woodgate , gunther on the right ( until hutton is fit ) and bale on the left, BAE can do one and then we will have a solid defence that knows how each other plays.... from there we can build a far better team :o
