At first, I have to admit, I was glad to see the back of the Berb, and although I was sad to see Keane go - I thought it was good business. We got great years out of keane, maybe his best and sold him for a sake of cash. But as we didn't have any new players up our sleeves, I ended up thinking it was bad business and made us go panic buying....
So my question is this....
Given the fact that Manoooo kept Ronaldo away from Real.... under a lot of presure they held on to him, and kept him sweet and kept the fans happy etc etc... Did we do enough to keep the berb and Robbie in the club... who thinks we won and who thinks we lost? ?
Im not trying to bring up the whole Berb thing again, thats been covered on this board plenty... but i want you lads think about the board, did they get it right?
cheers
the Berba situation could only be resolved with a sale
he did not want to play so good ridance
however, it isnt good buisness to not able to replace your top striker
and when your selling at a 20+million profit margin....unforgivable!!
keano is a diffrent kettle of fish
its a crying shame he went
as he wouldnt have spat his dummy out if we hadnt have sold him, and we need him more than ever!!!
on keans part, he didnt play hard ball, and im sure if we had refused his transfer request, sat him down, and explained that come this season he would be top dog......he would have stayed
we could also have asked him if he felt a move to scouse land would unsettle his game, which it has, and if he would find that form again
i have no doubt we could have keepd keano
just the silly borad again!!.....
what will we ever do with them?!?
Well we scored goals last season, and lot's of them, but we also let too much in...This year we are letting alot less in so far, BUT scoring less also. Berba fits in any mediocre team (spurs im sorry to say) but in manyoo hes going down. Keano has had his best years now, and wont get better, we got the best out of him, but still stant to see him go. 7 years is good for players these days so i think we did well. But i would of never bought players from other leagues, its too much of a risk to take, very hard to adapt to the premier league (apart from the really BIG young stars who can do anything : ronaldo, Torres).
Malbranque was a mistake getting rid of him though.
Coooome oooon yoooou spuuuurs, cooome ooon yooou spuuurs.
good point, loosing Mal-B means we loos a few more options in midfield and someone that could come in and sure up a 1-0 when needed.
