I was hoping that the Roma game would provide our attack with a decent challenge to test themselves before the season starts. 5-0 says it all really.

I'm slightly concerned that the preseason games may not have prepared us for the EPL as well as we might think. No one has really tested us in either defence or attack and, because we have had so much possession in each match, our fitness levels haven't even been stretched.

While I love the fact that we are playing great football & winning games I hope we don't get lulled into a false sense of security.

The only team that properly managed to come out & play against us was Hercules from the Spanish second league & we drew it 1-1.

Celtic, Norwich, Dortmund & Roma were all useless.

We made them useless, they are good teams but when you play as well as we have been you win match's.

If we lost a couple then you wouldnt have even thought that would you?

We can only beat whats in front of us and we have. I am pleased and optamistic that we can do quite well this season. We have to settle a few outstanding issues but i believe they will be resolved this week.

I don't know the confidence of the team is sky-high and our offensive players have really gotten good minutes together to build chemistry but I think you're rihgt about the defence as it hasn't had too much to do

I agree. I just wish we had been closed down a bit & not given so much time on the ball cos we won't get it in the Prem. We haven't yet had to battle or scrap for anything & while I know its only preseason, I just wish we had had a bit more of a challenge.

I don't know what to think. Its probably 6 of one/half a dozen of the other. The start of Serie A is weeks away so they weren't 100%. However, they are a solid Champions League side. Even weakened, they are still formidable. At times our play has been brilliant.

We are confident, and i'm more excited about the new season than I have been in a while. I'm trying to remain calm, but its hard

In todays football, defense starts with attacking players. If def had not much to do, means attackers and midfield did great job...
I wouldn't be too worried. I mean, you can't expect that ManUtd will play a friendly as a PL match anyways... Yes, our def would be put to some testing, but nothing special imo... Real thing starts on 16th...
Also, Ramos is one of top 5 in the world, i trust the guy 1209342390423% :P

Ramos top five in the World? Well, there's Ferguson, Jose, Wenger, Capello and Rafa who I consider better TBH, not sure if you got that one right but he is very good no doubt

Rafa???? A bit biased methinks. He's Ok in CL but no way consistent enough to be top 5!

i notice you didn't include Scolari, and nor would I.

I don't like him, he has no intention of ever winning us the EPL, so i don't put him there for the fact he's our manager. He has outsmarted some of the best coaches in Europe and has a habit of making good signings, though you may oppose that last bit.

roma may not of been 100% but losing 5-0 is a huge embarrassment they would want to avoid. it was still a good test imo and the team will benefit from the confidence they have gained.
also like to mention special praise for bentley. signing of the season imo

In principle i agree with what you said. However i feel that we have had a great pre season, I would like to have been tested a bit more. However i feel like the defense haven't been tested is due to our great play and how we are holding the ball so well.

The team are playing great and are booming with confidence and tbh... so am I. Bring on the new season!

We had a blinder last pre-season but that went completely t!ts up didnt it.

I would trade all these pre season wins for a good performance and a 2 nil win against Boro.

That is when it starts, and that is when I will start getting excited.
