Last year we got 66 goals in the Prem, 40 of which were scored by our hugely hyped strike quartet of Berba, Keane, Defoe & Bent.
Another 8 goals came from our defence and leaving 17 to come from our Midfield (that includes both Gareth Bale's & Gilberto's goal tallies from last season because I think they each played left wing as opposed to LB when they scored them) and the single own goal.
Much has been made this summer about replacing the amount of goals the now departed Keane and the possibly departing Berbatov got for us (30 in the league. That's basically half).
However, I think Juande has been looking at it from another angle. How can we improve on the 17 goals we got from Midfield last year? I think he's shown this by the names his brought to WHL over the summer. All are very creative but all are capable of finding the back of the net.
Bentley got 7 goals last season for blackburn in the Prem, almost half what our entire midfield managed together! Modric is also a very forward thinking midfielder who has an eye for goal. Much more than Teemu Tainio (0 goals in 2007/8 EPL) & probably Malbranque too (4 goals in 2007/8 EPL) who have both now left the club. In his final season at Dinamo he got 13 out of only 25 games. That's a phenomenal rate for a midfielder!
Gio too is likely to bag some goals. Granted he will normally play higher up the pitch but even when he drops further back I can see him bagging a few.
So while I hope we do find a way to replace those goals upfront, I'm very optimistic that we will be netting far more goals from different areas of the pitch this year which will make us even more of a dangerous prospect than we were last year with our supposed fab four!
how many of the 40 were keane and berba
As long as we dont conceed like we did last year then we will be AOK.
Oh thats right no we wont we just sold half of the most potent strike partnership in the premier league!!!
thanks basskedet that proves if berba goes we have lost 30 goals we need to find them somewhere else bent i believe will give us 15.New striker dont know? depends who it is. dos santos 8 maybe bently 8 for sure jenas 6 .your point is very good but i think this year to answer your post ramos is definatly bringing more goals from midfield as the examples given suggest and if this spurs squad
stop the goals conceded we can make top 6 thats realistic. put a 100 pound bet spurs to finish ahead of portsmouth is my money safe?

basskedt to make the question simple will portsmouth finish ahead of spurs bet was against a mate
I think we can can see the likes of Modric, Bentley, Gio and possibly Jenas bagging in some goals for us. Gio and Bentley more obvious becuase they play in more attackting posistions and are more likely to get into the box and get in "goal scoring oppurtunities".
whoever plays striker this year is gonna have a great year
with modrics vision, bentleys crossing, gio's speed and eliusiveness, jenas and his talent, lennon and his speed.
we could stick me up there and get a fewlol
Well, lets have a look at what the Spurs midfield is likely to be:
Bentley-Jenas-Modric-Gio
In there I think you have about twenty goals. Five from Bentley, seven from Jenas, ten from Modric and a few from Gio-if you're lucky :P
would be nice to sign an out and out goalscorer to sure things up a bit though!
Hudd will not chip in with 5 imo! Maybe 2 or 3...
