Its amazing how, just because a Mexican player joins a club, the amount of coverage a certain club will get in the Mexican press. Now, everyday, Tottenham has coverage in all the major sports press in my country. Same happens with Arsenal where Carlos Vela plays, and even Manchester City, where Nery Castillo warms up the bench.
Today, i was reading that Tottenham has shown interest in David Villa, and im thinking, after the huge success that Villa showed throught the Euro, how much is he worth? 20M, 30m?
Does Tottenham have what it takes to land Villa? I personally love that player. Hes got tremendous heart. Hes like a bull, tough as heck and strong on the ball. Hes also very skilled.
It would be great adition to the club, if he is to come, not only would you be contenders for the top four, but i would say for the league even.
What do you think? Is it possible?
the widely reported price tag is £32 million and his agent says that he would be interested in a move to Tottenham but who knows for sure really I only take things seriously when they are announced as done deals on Our site or skysports
seriously to lure him over, we will need to sign corluka and cesar first. after that we have to somehow take out 40 million and keep berbatov at the same time to have him. if only someone would take bent. a berbatov villa combination will be extremely deadly. combining with my creative midfield, i would say that top 4 is definitely within our grasp.
I think we are in a financially positive enough situation to bid for Corluka, Sanchez & Villa. We are still off-loading players such as Kaboul, Boateng, Lee, Stalteri, Ghaly, etc and that will help too.
There's no reason why he wouldn't come to Spurs, as long as Valencia actually accept a bid for their best player. I don't think Barca will bid until they get rid of Eto'o and Real are still hoping to land Ronaldo so, if we get a bid in there 1st, Valencia may be forced to accept it.
Spurs are just as big a club as Valencia. Although there's no immediate CL football its obvious that its a possibility in the near future & him being at Spurs will only take us a step closer. We can still offer UEFA cup in the meantime and, to be honest, the main thing is still really the EPL for players like Villa who've played in everything else but.
Our style of footie under Ramos will suit Villa and the other big names we've attracted will make the decision easier. The good thing about Spurs is, when we want a player, we really go after them. Look at how our chairman flew out to Croatia to speak to Modric. You wouldn't find David Gill doing that!
Also, just the fact that Ramos is at our club is a big factor in luring Villa. It'll help him settle in quick & he already knows & appreciates our manager's qualities.
I hope we do anyway!
Good Evening, players like Villa will not come to
The Lane unless we break our wage structure.
Villa, Arshavin etc, seem to want £100k a week,
if the reports are to be believed we currently pay
Berba £40k...
grahame hunter, spanish football expert says tottenhams standing is increasing in spain and a lot of the top spanish players have a great deal of respect for ramos as a coach, and even if real madrid, barcalona, man utd, etc, were interested in david villa, we would still have a good chance of signing him.
I seriously think we should stop bidding on dean ashton and focus on our current targets..the only thing i feel that it might stop villa from coming..is the fact that how long our club haven't won anything nor crack into the top four..players like gos santos lacked playing time, which is why he came. villa has plenty of playing time in valencia..if juande ramos can really pull it off..viva la revolution baby. by the way..what is our current transfer budget?
I think it is possible to Villa come, only because Ramos, Modric said that he chose Spurs because Ramos, also Villa is Spanish so 1 more reason him to come..
I would like to see Berbatov OUT for about 30 mill and Villa to come, money is not object for player like him....
Do or Die !
Until you have proven yourselves challengers for the CL spots, I doubt players like Villa will come to you, no matter how much green you shove down his neck. Eto'o said it all for me, 'they are simply not big enough'.
challengers? 2 years ago we were 4th in the standings only to be beat out last day of the year!! were not challangers!!!! ha that makes me laugh.
Theres other things that are big to players, CL ambitions (we have those, i think we can get 4th) history (ours is one of the best)potentail (dos santos, modric, bentley, jenas, lennon, berba is still here, bale, thats plenty of talent!!) he like the ramos, and thinks we are going places.
face it, we are a big club, but no one wants to admit it cuz of last year and our 11th place finish. the 2 previous years we finished 5th,and one spot out of a CL spot is contending mate!!!
Personally Villa would not come to Tottenham, a player of his quality would want to play C/L. If we were playing the the C/L this yeah then i would give it around 70& but as were not its a big fat ZERO%
But in my dreams its already done!
Where did I say you are not a big club mate? I am fully aware you are a big club, one of the biggest in the country and up there with some of the biggest in Europe, some of the signings you have made prove that. But Villa has said he is happy, Valencia are re-building with him and it will take a CL club to get him away I feel, but hey, if you remain optimistic after he and the club say he is staying then fair enough, that's what we have forums for![]()
