Just curious who people think have been some of the best ceter midfield performers this season outside of Modders, Parker, Sandro, etc.?
Guys like Lampard, Gerrard, Essien, etc. have fallen victim to injury/lack of time on the pitch which has paved the way for new guys to be the focus.
Personally, I think Michael Carrick has had a great season for United. He actually has a much more diverse game than I realized.
Leon Britton is another name I would throw out there.
Thoughts?

I hate Thommo more than Lawro
Tiote and Sessegnon have been good. Although Sessegnon kinda plays CAM.
i love sarf london me
How Newcastle brought in Yohan Cabaye for the mere price of €4.5m I will never know. Bargain if there ever was one.

Cabaye fro, what I've seen of him, good player.
I think Cabaye has to be the stand out player so far for me with Tiote not far behind - outside of us and City best central midfield pairing in the prem.
Impressed by Joe Allen as well
In just England?
If not then I'd say Marchisio.
Also I'd argue that Cabaye has been great for Newcastle, as has (it pains me) Gareth Barry. Very underrated IMO.
Tiote/Cabaye - Good business by Newcastle.
Yaya is just a machine, also Cabaye
Dempsey plays in the hole like VDV or wide midfielder.
So for me it's got to be Cabaye. Others that have impressed me Sessegnon, Tiote (even though he's a DM/CM), Joe Allen.
Outside England as @AmericanHotspur says Marchisio, Kwadwo Asamoah, De Rossi (DM/CM) and Gago is solid.
As far as Italy, midfield depth is one of the many reasons I'm tipping them as dark horses for Euro 2012.
In a Diamond:
--------------Totti|Giovinco------------
Marchisio|Aqualani--------Pirlo|Montolivo
-------------De Rossi|Motta------------
I'm havin' that all day.

I think Toure is the best CM in the league. He's consistent with no real weaknesses. He can defend, support, and attack all equally well and he can adapt and do it all in the same game. Pretty amazing player.

Yaya Toure no doubt, liked him at Monaco, and Barcelona
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Back to a lesser known player to English football fans Kwadwo Asamoah, he's a great player. One of the many great African cm's and side midfielders that Udinese have been hoovering up. I think he's moving to a top 6 (not us) side in England next season, clubs have been looking at him for a couple of windows now and I think if not for the ACN he might have moved this winter. Udinese play a really quick fluid counter-attacking side and he's so critical.
I know this is against Mali but he's been doing this to teams for awhile now. He's always great against Roma.

Been very impressed with Sessegnon too, one other not mentioned but has done ok is David Vaughan.
