Scandalous of me to suggest it I'm sure, but I saw an interesting article (or rather letter/email) in yesterday's Guardian.
It was in response to a quote from Kenyon suggesting that other clubs should stop whinging about Chelsea's spending power. He cited - from what I remember of the piece - Villa, Spurs, Newcastle and maybe one other, and specifically targeted Spurs, saying these clubs should strive to compete with Chelsea as Chelsea would certainly not lower themselves to their levels.
What a total c%£t.
I thought the person who emailed the Guardian had a tremendous put down. Can't remember all of it, but it was basically along the lines of the fact that Chelsea were bankrolled by Roman's billions therefore it was utterly irresponsible of Kenyon to suggest replicating what Chelsea have done.
Intriguingly, and I have no basis for this assertion since have not researched it, the poster said that of the clubs in question, Spurs had the most sustainable ratio of wages to revenue at 42%.
I doubt that has changed significantly with the recent acquisitions. If true, that's pretty impressive.
Edited to add
Actually, what I meant to say was that the poster in the Guardian said that Spurs have the most sustainable wage to revenue ratio in the division, not just of those clubs in question.
