is it me or are we sh1t at free kicks

firstly let me state how much i love the current team and acknowledge how great they are. but i want to know if you'll feel the same.

When we win a free kick, anywhere, shooting range, diagonal ball in, direct or in direct..... i go make the tea. we either drill it into the wall, over the ball, over everyone's head, or o short and try and build from normal play.

we have some of the best strikers of the ball and to my reckoning, nothing has ever come from any of them. Corners we do a little better, but free kicks....awful.

anyone got a stat? or a POV.

I think we spend so much time fighting over who's going to take it, no one really knows what's going on. Everytime we get a free-kick in a dangerous position, you get a least 3 players debating over who's going to take it.

I think it's something that should be pre-determined in the tactical plan, so everyone knows the score. Then again, it is Harry, I can't imagine him planning this kind of thing lol.

I know Kaboul can hit it at 7356723456237mph, but I'd rather he left it to a more technical player.

Modric's corners today were class.

As far as free kicks go, Bale/VDV are the only players in our starting XI capable of getting any on target within 25 yards. Kaboul has a lethal right peg on him but thats more from 30 to 35 yards.

I remember reading somewhere that we dont really practice them in training, this was either last season or the one before that.

I remember when I first heard we'd bought VDV, I watched loads of videos of his numerous wonder free kicks. Has he scored any in the league yet? He seems to just enjoy whacking it into the wall, maybe he finds it funny.

i dont see why modric doesnt hit more free kicks.......i mean if the opposition keeper sees him coming up to hit it then he aint even gonna bother with a wall, only for him to rip the net! he has a suprisingly strong shot for a skinny coont!

i love vdv but hes a greedy coont wen it comes to taking responsibilty! no bad thing really but sometimes he needs to take a step back!

@belondon in a way you"ve stolen my thunder, but I would go further and say we are actually sh!t in front of goal, the PAOK game and today showed us to be poor at finishing our chances off. I know we won easy today but we got in to some great positions and wasted chance after chance, same against PAOK, when a team packs their defence we cant find a way to score and that bothers me big time, yes I know its just about winning but we cant keep wasting these goal scoring opportunities forever, it will cost us in the end. VDV corners are awfull, he don't know how to take them; but Modrics and Bales, are way better, they shoot them as centers, pointing to a teammate, while VDV shoots them hoping HE'LL be the one scoring. THe team actually doesn't seem capable to take advantage of them. I really don't know why Modrics doesn't do every corner; I prefer him doing that and VDV waiting outside the box to smack it where no one can get it.

Freekicks are weird, Both, Bale and VDV, are capable of the best, but, they never get it done, why? I, cannot figure it out, maybe lack of confidence in themself or incredible confidence from the keeper's, I remember an outsanding frekick take by Bale in April (don't remember againt who) in which the keeper completly fooked an awesome goal.

Sometimes I think the lads love to improve keepers confidence, by making 30 shoots (being sitters some of them) to score 3 goals... It scares me sometimes, because, in football, you cannot forgive;"si no los haces, te los hacen".

Our weak point obviously, but I don't think our players/HR should fill their mind trying to fix this problem (but at least they should stop wasting so much time, deciding who will finally shoot the fcking ball in the wall). However, if we can't shoot and score directly from the freekicks, our players can think about unexpected draws of the ball, which can cause danger. I don't remember us doing this as well.

Bale is quality at free kicks but for some reason we keep letting Kaboul and VDV take them.

Don't why VDV is taking corners either. As much as I love him his corners rarely beat the first man.
