Goal.com - Tottenham - Spurs Now In For Arshavin - Report
The kind of rumors that go around. He would be a nice addition but I do think he's a little overrated for a 18 million pound pricetag.
i agree mate.
if we do spend that much it would be a panic buy i suppose.
Nice dream though
I dont rate arshavin at 18 million, 10 million maximum and that would be pushing the boat out.
Similar story i red in MAIL ON Sunday, because that i don"t think this is just a rumor....
18 millions????DON"T THINK SO!!!!!! If we sell Berbatov for 20-25 and buy Arshavin we will be weaker in attack and wouldn"t earn much money...Zenit has overrated him, where was he when he was 20-25 if he was good someone would buy him then..He scored couple of Goals on Euro and they think now he is world class striker, it is too risky to buy player who didn"t play in strongest leagues(England,Spain......), and don"t forget he has 27 years
:bath:
Do or Die !
Don't rate him at £18 million or 10 million, infact i don't rate the player at all. He got bigged up for 1 or 2 good performances vs a bad dutch side.
i love sarf london me
We dont want him we need to consilidate what we have.
Says Cro newspaper... I dunno what to think really...
I don't think he is worth that much... Also, i have not watched him but 2-3 games altogether this year, eufa cup finals and russia on euro... Didn't impress me really...
**Right...should have put this one in transfer news...my bad...

Totally agree, i think he has been hyped up too much. Personally i think Dos Santos has all the potential to be a much better player and he's got time on his side AND he's already ours!!!!!!
Life's too important to be taken seriously!!!
Yeah man already a thread up on this guy lol, 18mil is too much for a guy who has only just made his name in the Euro's, we dont really need to be taking a chance like we did with Rebrov ect.....
F*ck Stratford!!!!
Too much money for a chap whos only become famous from a few good games at the Euro's, id rather have Bentley at the Lane IMO.
F*ck Stratford!!!!
Hey I'm a Zenit fan, and when I heard Arshavin was looking for a new challenge, I was hoping for him to end up at Spurs as they are my favorite English side.. and I thought Berbatov and Keane would be teammates make in heaven. However that was last year, when Jol was still manager, as you can see by these articles:
Jol on brink of Arshavin deal | The Sun |HomePage|Sport|Football
tribalfootball.com - Arshavin agent reveals Tottenham talks
Now it's a different story, as at the very least Berbatov is almost certain to leave this summer, the manager has changed, and Arshavin's price tag has sky rocketed. With that said I can't believe some of your idiotic comments, is this the Man U fans forum?
Arshavin isn't a "gandon", like Sychev. I can give you a million reasons why after 8 years Arshavin is still in St. Petersburg.
There's the fact that the one person to give him a chance at the big-time was the old man Morozov (assistant coach to USSR/Dynamo Kiev legend Lobanovsky during the 80s). The fact that he was getting paid more by Gazprom than he could make in Western Europe.
Why would he want to leave his beautiful hometown, where he ran the show and was part of the most feared striker duo with his teammate Kerzhakov, to go to a mid-table club in France or Germany. He said it himself "I never imagined playing anywhere other than Zenit." For many years he kept getting the #2 or #3 spot for Russian player of the year, and the club kept coming close to winning the title only to be denied by Moscow's corruption. I think when he finally won the player of the year in 2006, he decided he wanted to pursue "another level". That was reiterated by winning the league in 2007.
So you ask where he has been? He's been in Piter, playing beautiful football. Even if no one outside of Russia has been watching.
He has downsides no doubt. He's not a hard-worker, but perhaps a move to England would change that (one reason I'm glad he's not going to Barca or Chelsea). But his class shines through, you'd have to be blind to miss it. All he did at Euro 2008 was prove he could manage at the highest level.
I know you're concerned about money, but if you aren't eager to see Modric & Arshavin on the same pitch, you're following the wrong sport.
Later,
no harm done :withstupid:
I'm a fan of Arshavin, and I hear what you're saying about him not being picked up at a younger age, but he has got fantastic ability, and is rated by one of the worlds best current managers.
I'm not saying he's worth 18m, but I'd like to see him in a Spurs shirt.
i think who ever lands arshavin will be taking on the new milan baros !!! i dont think he is a great player and could struggle in the premiership . but hey i could be wrong !!!

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and foremost about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

50/50 at best in my opinion.
Not 18 bigguns worth.
