Ok, cerny drops a clanger and now the press speculate his cup final place is under threat. So, who should play against chelski (and slavia for that matter)? Yes he did make a howler last thursday, but for me radek's more decisive and commands his box better so I'd stick with cerny...
both on top form i would with out a doubt go for Robinson, but at the moment and for quite a while that hasn't happened , cerney has shown more consistency than robbo , so for me its cerney with robbo to leave at the end of the season and bring in a new keeper
Good point. I would think a new keeper is without doubt on ramos' shopping listOriginally Posted by grimsby yidds
Good Morning, I find it strange that Cerny has not picked
up a lot more criticism. Little mistakes have crept in, and
an easy goal conceded against Man Utd. If Robbo had
let in Thursday's goal, he would be slaughtered in the press.
I agree with Grimsby Yidds, both on good form, it would be
Robbo for me. We miss his distribution for sure...
Think Ramos will stick with Cerny for the Final, but I am
concerned the Keeper and back four we may use, will hardly
have played together.
A large part of the reason - maybe the only real part of the reason - why Robbo attracts so much criticism is that he is (was) England's number one. Look at the absolute howler from Craig Gordon - Scotland keeper - that let Keano bag his century goal a few weeks back. Nothing in the press of the magnitude that you'd have with Robbo or David James or Scott Carson.
Cerny's mistake on Thursday was a bad one. Still not entirely sure how he dropped the ball when he seemed to have it completely under control. The effects are amplified because it meant they got some momentum to come at us and it makes the second leg far less comfortable, especially with the League Cup Final three days later. Other than that mistake though, he had a solid game.
My biggest concern with Cerny is actually his distribution - as hinted at already. Compare to Van der Saar for example. In the two games we played against them his kicks, whether with the ball in his hands, or from a back pass always seemed to find a United player. Cerny's just don't compare.
Does it mean Robbo will get another chance? Who knows? Will be interesting to see.
I think Robbo will, and should, return. Depends very much on his relationship with Ramos I guess? What is the score with Alnwick? I haven't seen the lad play and I know he is on loan at the moment but is he a future No.1?
I would like to think that Robbo is going to get a go behind our new defence, when he
was in goal we had nothing but shite in front of him and his confidence was always on
a downer after the press peresecuted after his England failings.
I don't give a toss what anyone thinks, you don't become a bad keeper over night, if
he got the opportunity, i'm sure he would grasp it with both hands, and if anyone out there doesn't believe that Robbo is a Yid, check out the link, it's brilliant.

Both arent up for it at the mo, I have zero confidence in Robbo now hes just let me down time and time again!
As for Cerny hes done ok while in the team but as previously stated errors are creeping into his game now but i reckon hes gotta start against chelsea just because hes been playing regulary and again as stated i think he does command the box where Robbo just doesnt do that.
Ramos must get a keeper in the summer we all know that.
F*ck Stratford!!!!
I HOPE THAT ROBINSON DOES GET BACK INTO THE SIDE AS WHEN ON FORM HE IS A TOP DRAWER GOALKEEPER. CERNY HAS DONE WELL BUT DISTRIBUTION WISE ROBBO IS A CLASS ACT. I HOPE NOW WITH THE DEFENCE RESTRUCTURED AND ABIT MORE COMMANDING AND CONFIDENT PERHARPS WE MIGHT SEE ROBINSON RETURN TO FORM. SO ROBBO TO RETURN. DAVID JAMES BEING TOUTED FOR SPURS ID RATHER HAVE SID JAMES IN GOAL THAN CALAMITY!!
I think if Cerny starts against Slavia on Thur then he will definitely start against Chavscum on Sun.
If Robbo gets a start then Ramos might be seen as weighing up his options.
I agree with the others that have mentioned how Robbo was vilified for every little mistake he made but other keepers have got away with much worse recently.
It was only a season or two ago the papers never shut up about "Calamity James" & now they all want to have his babies.
Joke.
I like Robbo but think Cerny will start.
agree that Cerny will will start both games, Robbo is so far out of the picture now.
He only has himself to blame though, if he had responded well to being dropped, kept up his fitness, and stopped whining, he would have just had to wait for cerny to make a mistake, and he would have been in, but now i don't think it matters how many mistakes cerny makes, ramos just doesn't trust robbo anymore.
Shame, but i think robbo is going to have to leave to stand any chance of getting his england place back.
Guys there is talk of bringing in a new keeper in the summer. Does anybody have any preferences as to who he is. I would like someone young and enthusiastic from the lower leagues.
Bristol Rover's Steve Phillips is an excellent shotstopper. The again perhaps Carlo Cudicini would relish a move across Town?
god your full of good ideas aint you! bristol rovers goalie? :27:Originally Posted by GasTom

Tom, Phillips is a great keeper... for League One. Still, I'd pay at least £15 million for him. Possibly.
