so we have applied for next season. What is the score with this? I thought we would qualify through the Carling Cup now? Win or lose? Obviously not
Discussed at length in several other threads. League Cup runners-up do not qualify for Europe regardless of what else happens.
Thanks Funster and apologies for repeated topic, feel free to delete the thread.

Yeah, very near Southampton. I used to live there for about five years or so. Hardly been back since I moved to Romsey. Do miss some aspects of it. Certainly don't miss others!
F*CK the intertoto mickey mouse cup, we dont need the extra games surely!!!!
Maybe its a back up if we dont beat the scum in the CC Final we can get into europe that way i guees, but its not for me!
F*ck Stratford!!!!
Im might be the only one that has even seen the Mighty Yids actually play in the Inter-two-bob.
Played a home game against a Swedish side (beginning with O) at Brightons Goldstone ground (before Steve Carr was even in the Spurs first team).
Think we won 2-0 but can't really remember. :32:

the group from that foray into europe
We were also given a one year suspended ban from all European competition for fielding severely weakened sides in those games. Fortunaltely Alan Sugar lined the palms of the UEFA top brass with silver and we were cleared to play in the UEFA Cup in 2000.Originally Posted by grimsby yidds

When you look at the slimebag Levy, I'm almost regrettful that SPurs fans drove Sugar out of the club... oh well...
Back to the intertoto.... lets face it, if were not in Europe, its a great route in. We would only be playing pre season friendlies at that stage anyway, it might just mean we end up playing in some fancy locations during the summer! Happy days!
just found this
1st July, 1995
Intertoto Victory.
Spurs 2 Rudar Velenje (Slovenia) 1
Every season as Spurs failed to achieve automatic qualification for Europe, the argument raged – should they enter the Intertoto Cup.
In 1995 Spurs, Wimbledon and Sheffield Wednesday agreed to enter the competition to assist the Premiership when no other club would participate.
However, their reluctance was clear as they extracted certain conditions from the authorities – they would not play at their home ground, they could play weakened teams and could play loan players.
Spurs played at Brighton and put out a reserve team which lost their first game against FC Lucerne, 0- 2, at the end of June.
They won the second game away to Rudar Velenje of Slovenia by 2 – 1, their only success, although it was not considered a first-team match.
Thankfully, Spurs have avoided this dilemma over the past two seasons with automatic qualification for the UEFA Cup.
The Intertoto Cup was always regarded with disdain in England with no-one wanting to take part but across Europe top clubs who had failed to qualify for European competition saw it as another way of playing in the UEFA cup.
However, now-a-days even in England it is taken more seriously with clubs looking to the Intertoto Cup as an alternative route into Europe. Newcastle United have used it successfully on a number of occasions - the only draw backback, from the players point of view, is a very early start to preseason training - mid-June.
embarrassing, competition for west ham united..
It is a farcical way of qualifying for the UEFA cup but we do need to be in it, we must
concentrate on winning the CC final, if (god forbid) we lose that, we must qualify by
our league position, and that is going to take a massive effort, we could win the inter
toto at a canter, so if that is what is required to get UEFA cup football next season,
then so be it.
hmmm... could reallly see berbatov loving the prestige of the intertoto, if we have to resort to this, it will be without berbs...guaranteed.
But hey, K.P, bent, Lee and robinson could all play, and we'd still win that joke of a competition.
