It is a simple question and will be nice to share some opinions.
After Defoe departure we have 3 first team striker with Bent who is still not full fit whichi is a bit risky.
Do you think we need to buy 4th striker who will know that he will be 4th choice, or we can use the youth we have i.e. Pekhart?
Probably yes.
Apart from Pekhart there appears to be very little depth amongst our reserve strikers.
I imagine (would like to hope) that Ramos et al already have some names in the pipeline for the close season - so hopefully three strikers should be enough for us to cope over the next three months.
Three strikers is definitely not enough and i was surprised to see Defoe go when there was no replacement, Juande seems to know what he is doing and will have his ideas about who can cover if the worst comes to the worst, i have no doubt that he has someone ear-marked to come in at the end of the season, but let's not forget that all the speculation about Berbatov will kick off once again.
Simple this one..........Yes!
Currently we only have two.
Because: -
A) Bent is injured
B) Bent is shite!!!!!
LOL
The jury is still out for me on Bent for me. I don't think he has been given any sort of chance to prove (or disprove for that matter) himself. I will definitely conceed the potential fee (up to £16.5 mn dependent on goal/appearances etc) we paid was WAY over the top.
However, he scored 31 goals in 68 Premiership games for Charlton playing pretty much as a lone front man & 8 goals in 14 England U21 matches.
I think he may still come good (fingers crossed)
Considering Bent is injured, I'd have to say yes we do need another but until that time, we've got 2 of the best strikers in the league at the minute. :2:
Whatever happened to that Moroccan bloke (I think he was Moroccan, I may be wrong) we bought a couple of years ago. Don't think he even played a game and then IIRC we shipped him off to Derby on loan. Is he still on our books? Is he any good?
You mean Mounir El Hamdououi.
He left 18 months ago to join Willem II, and has since joined AZ Alkmaar
I think the answer is a blatant yes, even if berbatov stays in the summer, we would need someone to partner him or bent, as i don't believe they could play well together, and keane can't play every match, as much as i'd like him too.
In fact, if berbatov goes in the summer, our attack is gonna be in pieces....maybe kanoute could come back in for a season?
I hope not! Kanoute's a good player but i dont think he would be the answer. I think they may go for David Villa although they will face competition from real`madrid and chelski for him.
I believe that bent (given the chance) will be a very good player for us, he was a fantastic striker for charlton and you dont become a bad player over night. I think its important that we keep berb and if we win the carling cup it is a possibility and if we do well in the uefa cup then villa may come here, think ramos knows him well so you never know. :6:
Agreed, see aboveOriginally Posted by P UNIT 1980
I so want him to prove me wrong though but i just cant see it, deffo need another striker!
F*ck Stratford!!!!
Ramos has probably already got his eye on someone, if anything happens to Berbs or Keane we could be in trouble, Bent hasn't set the world on fire, granted he has been injured for a spell, but i remain pesimistic about his ability to perform for us, i know his track record is good with Charlton and England Under 21's, but the expectation that is on his shoulders seems to be a burden, i know he didn't set the price but Charlton must have seen us coming.
On the other hand, you've got to take your hat off to Bent for holding out for his Tottenham move, he could have quite easily gone to the Pikey's who were offering him nearly £70,000 a week, but he didn't.
He is back in training now and maybe will get his chance when we are comfortable in a game with 20-25 minutes to go (3-0 up against Derby on Saturday), and if he does get a goal that may be the catalyst to launch a goal scoring spree, we'll just have to wait and see.
With regards to cover, Ramos may look at the reserves and bring someone through, he never had any qualms about throwing O'Hara in at the deep end and it's done him the world of good.
I think we could do with someone like Agbonlahor. Young, bags of pace and future England professional withut a doubt.
Kenwyn Jones?

Don't think we want Agbonlahor, nor will we get him - he's entrenched in the 1st team at Villa and we'd have to pay a king's ransom - just to put him on the bench?
Nah, no thanks. (reckon he could do England though)
I dunno much about Kenwyn Jones, but I don't really think we should be looking down too much for signings (about the only player I really rate from the relegation battlers is Brum's Kapo, though maybe a couple others)
I think, to be stereotypical, that we'll most likely raid spain for some quality - I'm not talking about Sevilla's though.
