How can Spurs sell Defoe to Portsmouth?
He is one of the most exciting strikers we have ever had. We should have had Keane, Berbatov and Defoe against Man U. But they pulverised us.
Berbatov did nothing
I am disappointed to see Defoe go. Very bad decision
Hopefully his England career will pick up now. He deserves it.
1)Spurs are afraid that he might be gone for nothing
2)We cannot have a good striker as a benchwarmer everytime
3)Cash in
4)Defoe gets more 1st team and international action
Defoe is not in Keane's league, simple as.Originally Posted by VancouverSpur

Well said.
I've never subscribed to the hype about Bent, but when he's happy he's a great striker. He ain't happy though and that's reflecting in his attitude and performance. When gets any pitch time that is. He's still got a lot of bedding in to do, if he isn't gone by the summer.

Defoe will be missed. He did well for the club but for what ever reason didn't get a fair run in the team. GOOD LUCK at Portsmouth and thanks for some great goals.
Well according to Sky Sports news tonight Defoe is only on loan as the deal couldnt be done in time so hes there until the end of the season when a deal will be done i guess.
But at the mo Jermaine Defoe is still a Yido!! well kinda lol
F*ck Stratford!!!!
Jermaine Defoe your still a Yido!!
atleast if he does move we can get a bit more than 7million because he is going to do well at pompy and they will want to keep hold of him. The mans a goal machine with regular football
Spot on. Or Rambo will see that he is top draw if he gets his opourtunity, keep him, turn him into a goal machine, we win the Premier League, FA cup, Champions League, World Cup for England, Win the war in Afghanistan, Colonise mars etc.Originally Posted by berby999

When? The last time they pulverised us was last season. If you're talking about yesterday's game, you must have been watching something different to virtually everybody in the stadium. As for Berbatov doing nothing..... he scored, and while his first touch wasn't as exquisite as we know it can be, his link play was magnificent. He single handedly created Keano's scoring opportunity in the second half.
Anyway, as for JD - I liked the guy. A lot. I thought it was incredible when we signed him from the Irons. Sadly, he hasn't cut it with the managers, although there is always the niggling doubt that his lack of a signature meant the manager's hand was forced by the board..... This season, and for large chunks of last, when he got a start he didn't really look anything like as sharp as he used to a couple of seasons ago. This season particularly he looked sharper when coming off the bench.
Obviously he would score yesterday. He always does on his debut! Bizarrely, he's only gone on loan. What a farce this transfer window lark is. Good luck to him if he makes the move permanent, but we simply could not have afforded to lose him for nowt after sitting on the bench through all of next season.
Yep.What a farce this transfer window lark is
I could'nt believe it when i picked up the paper this morning & read that!
Where does that leave Benjani?. We should do a swap!
Apparently, because all the ground work was done on deadline day, clubs are allowed
to finalise the deals this week, reports suggest that Defoe and Benjani will sign
permanent deals with Pompey and Man City respectively, before the end of this week.
Also, have got to comment on mancub's comments regarding who pulverised who on
Saturday, talk about getting mixed up with which game you're watching, there was
only one team in it for 93 minutes and 55 seconds, all of of their so called stars were
totally outran, out-thought and out played, how can you say that we were second
best when it was probably our second best performance of the season, something
smells a bit fishy here, you've even got manc in your name. :6:
I really miss Chris Armstrong. How could we sell him! It still brings a tear to my eye.
