I just can't beleive he's gone...Bent is still here and i dont understand.
Defoe has been, and always be a quality player and i will miss him alot.
He never got under the "good sides" of Ramos, and had a bad time this year, but berba will be leaving this summer i'll bet my years wages on it, Keano and Defoe partnered well and i dont know how Keano could find another partnership with Bent.
We had defensiv problems and after summerr we gonna have trouble scoring goals...
We keep talking about investments in young gun's etc but there is no need to sell the best assets we have FFS.
Defoe i'm gonna miss you mate, you have been great to us.
Coooome oooon yoooou spuuuurs, cooome ooon yooou spuuurs.
At what point did Keano and Defoe "partner well"?Originally Posted by samuel007
From memory, their failure to do so was one of Jol's problems (not really this season, but their were a few important matches last one). They showed under Jol they couldn't really work together, though I can't judge under Ramos as I've not seen many games (Defoe didn't either, though).
I agree it is a damn shame, I disagree on Berba, and I'd have Defoe over Bent any day.
To Darren Bent; Prove me wrong mate.

Defoe - once bitten twice shy.
Ok, Defoe was making all the right noises about staying, being happy at Spurs etc.
So was Sol Campbell before he left.
The club have sold him because he would have left for free in 18 months. Sensible.
Don't get me wrong, i am a fan & sorry to see him go but we have been shafted by players before & learnt our lesson well.
Interesting how, Jol, Ramos & a succession of England managers haven't seen him as a starting player. What do they know that we dont?
As for Bent (as well as Boateng & Kaboul), give them a chance for crying out loud, they were bought as squad players & due to injuries etc they have been thrown in at the deep end. All this talk of Bent costing £17 mn is bollox. It was circa £10 mn +add ons for goals, appearances & England appearences etc.
I love the club, i'll never join West Ham.
I love the club, i dont want a transfer anymore. But now I'm off to Spurs.
I love the club, I'll sign a new deal, Hello again Harry!
Defoe is a turncoat. Disingenuous twat. I dont begrudge him wanting first team football, but just cut the crap about loving the club you grotty little merecenary.
Good riddance. You'll fit in well with Scumbell and Diarra!
I honestly think this could cause us a few problems, we are now completely reliant on keane staying fit for every game until the end of the season, if he gets injured before bent comes back, not good, and even if it happens when bent is fit, berbs and bent up front is just odd.
Oh well, i guess we can't have everything go our way, the defence has had one hell of an upgrade, and ramos got the players he wanted in and out, i guess defoe went so late we are kind of stuck with it until the summer.
il miss Defoe as already stated, the guy is class but hes got his future to sort.
I am however surprised we didnt get anyone in for cover even a championship striker, this now means Bent has and must step up to the plate and deliver the goods hes got my support from now on aslong as hes gives 100%.
F*ck Stratford!!!!
happy release to be honest.
lets face it hes too talented to sit on the bench all the time...
as for buying new strikers, why when we have that thomas peckhart sitting in the wings, isnt he supposed to be wonderful?
"It's about getting the best out of the lads and confidence. Life is about confidence. Whatever you do in life, if you are not confident you don't perform. It's up to me to get the confidence running through the players and if I can get that instilled you'll see a team that will really play." - Harry Redknapp - 29/10/2008
agree with you about peckhart, its time to bring in some attacking youngsters. also hoping taarabt will get more of a look in, it was impossible to keep berby, defoe, keane and bent happy all the time but im still sad to see defoe go. he will score alot of goals for 'arry'.Originally Posted by Chivalry

Defoe was just so full of shit, he was constantly saying "i love this club and i want to
stay and fight for my place", if this is the case, why wasn't he banging on Ramos' door
and asking for a pen to sign the contract that was so often talked about.
Granted, he did look as miserable as sin when he did his first interview in a pompey
shirt, but the opportunity was there for him to stay with Spurs and he alone decided
to leave, he must have known that Keane and Berbatov are the first choice strikers
and the fact that he has now moved on just proves that he wasn't willing to stay and
fight for his place.
It just goes to show how much Defoe loves the game. Instead of being complacant with a bech position on a better team, he would preffer to be playing every week.
This attitude is what is so good about him in the first place.
