waiting list of season tickets

Hello lads and ladies.

I have a question.... based on this thread...
Dont you think this is ridiculous?


Why do we have a waiting (As do other clubs) list for season tickets... whats the business reason for making people wait on a list. Surely if someone wants to buy a whole season of tickets.... we should allow that and bank the money?

i think it is based on Manures model of keeping a higher percentage of people interested by leaving x amount on general sale or at least to members. i.e. new fans etc the next generation blah blah blah... which i agree with to be frank.

(1) Because demand is greater than the supply of season tickets

(2) The longer someone has been on the waiting list, they should get first dibs when it becomes available.

I can hear you asking, well capacity if 36,000 and there are 25,000 season ticket holders why not sell an extra 11,000 (BTW, these figures are rough estimates)? because they need to leave some back for non-season ticket holders.

The season tickets are predominately in the cheaper stands/seats, therefore by having tickets go on general sale for the higher amounts they actually make more money than they do from ST sales, especially when you consider the potential for extra cup/europe games

All our boys have got season tickets all over the ground, and not just in the cheaper seats.

How long have you been on the list for? 1,500 season tickets were released last season so you must have move up by the same amount?

Well you also have to remember the allocation that needs to be set aside for away fans per the rules of the FA and now UEFA. such as like the FA cup i think is 15% of the seats have to be reserved first for away fans thus if they don't "fill" it up that is why we see more come back on sale. i believe for the PL that number is 10% although i could be wrong.

Also as stated you will have people like us here in the states that are a Spurs fan however we obviously will not be able to go to every game of the season so being able to have some single game ones available would be benifical to us.
