Defoe says he wants to stay. Could be sold to buy a defender or two (or a swap for Laursen from Villa or Ben Haim from Chelscum). If Berbatov stays we probably don't need 4 strikers i suppose.

Hope he stays but if they cant offer him more games you can understand it if he did go.

Of course telling Defoe "he can go IF he wants to" is not the same as saying "we are going to sell you!"

      Probably paper talk as usual.

Defoe to stay, hes a cracking player and if he wants to stay like he says he does and will sign the contract then i cant see the problem!!!

Get that useless Bent out, hes the one who shoud be making way.

Yea but selling Bent will mean making a big loss and admitting a mistake, I can't see it happening...

I'd be happy with Defo staying but wouldn't mind him going if we are to keep all 3 other strikers. He says he's happy to stay but wants more playing time, which I can't see him getting anytime soon so we'll see what happens.

But it was a Big mistake and everyone knows that, its not the first time Spurs have lashed out stupid money on a turkey.

Remember Dean Richards 8m, Rebrov 11m and that excuse for a defender we have in kaboul 8m to name but a few and they were/are all flops.
In Defoe hes a proven scorer id have him every time over Bent, cut our loses and let West Spam have him after all they do take alll our rejects dont they lol.

Thing is, what Defoe also (reportedly) said was that he'd like to sign a new contract (very positive) but only if he can play more regularly (of which there is no guarantee). So still odds on that he will leave at some stage. Which is a terrible shame, because I think he is the sharpest of the strikers we have. Gotta say though, that this season more than any other, I have the strange feeling that he offers his most for us when he's brought on with half an hour left, rather than when he starts!

Losing Defoe would be no major loss. in fact, i would rather see him go ASAP. He is a good player, no doubt. But in the Premiership, there are no guarantees of first team football, and Keane's all round game is much stronger in my opinion.

He hasn't signed a new deal (whether he has been offered one is anyones guess, but i would imagine he has been) and I distinctly remember him saying he didn't want to leave Charlton, and within weeks joined Wet Spam, and then he retracted his transfer request at Wet Spam, only to join Spurs 2 months later.

Hate to say it, but Defoe is a well known turncoat and I'm sure the club are delighted that he has gone to the press over his conversation with Ramos.

Good player, but couldn't give a gypsies left bollock if he left.

That is also a very good point, he does show his sharpness more when brought on for the last half an hour rather starting.
No one is really gauranteed a first team spot and Defoe knows this but i do feel for him not being played enough as he is a great striker.

Good Evening, although a little off topic, I read that the
fee for Bent was closer to £10 than £16, and that the rest
was made up of add ons, appearances etc...
Not sure if there is any truth in it or not...
      Kindest Regards Slim.
