City Ask PL For Permission To Sign Keeper On Emergency Loan

I read the following this morning:


Manchester City have written to the Premier League asking for clearance to sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season. BBC Sport understands the Premier League is likely to grant City's request for a temporary replacement.


Maybe it's just me being cruel and a fan of an opposing club, but I feel like if this is not something that is generally allowed then City should have to suck it up and play their third string keeper. I mean, isn't that WHY you have a third string keeper, just in case? Now, if this is about making sure they have someone to back up Gunnar Nielsen, then I have zero problem with that. But if they go grab someone a lot better, I feel like they are being given unfair assistance with the kind of personnell problem that countless clubs deal with on a regular basis. Just wanted to see what all of you out there might think of this situation, since we all want City to tank haha.

If this is true then it is ridiculous. It should never be allowed it was City's decision to send there 2nd best keeper in Joe Hart out on loan. Every other team has had to put up with injuries to there main goalkeepers including Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs. But each club has dealt with the problem and continued. Seeing as there are only 3 games left they should not need to bring in another keeper. Plus if the Premier League allow this then it will set an even worse precedent than allowing Pompey to sell their players outside of the transfer window.

Granted they have their 1st, 2nd and 4th choice goalkeepers injured but there have been multiple occasions in this league where a youngster has had to step up in a position and I see this as a similar situation

They would not have let us call up a right back thats for sure. They had a keeper come on, so they don't need an emergency loan.

If they do get a keeper on loan now and they actually snap 4th with his help, this will be one of the worst decisions in football history. I just can't see that happening though, it will be unfair...

Joe Hart can't be recalled because he was sent out on loan for the whole season so couldn't put a recall clause in his contract.

Likely to grant Manchester City's request???!!!!! That HAS to be a joke.

They are responsible for their own squad, and making sure they have nessessary back-up players. If they havent signed enough goalkeepers, its their own problem and they're gonna have to man-up.
Its not like they havent had the money to spend.

If this actually happens, its a mockery of the EPL.

They have a goalkeeper, he'll have to be backed up by a 16 year-old from the youth team.
Unlucky City, get over it.
