I am philospohical about yesterday, it was indeed 'one of those days' against a Pompey side that ARE better than their predicament suggests.
However I do find myself wondering, and this is a feeling that has never really gone away, when Luka is going to step up to the plate and start proving himself and influencing games. He cost a lot of money and in my opinion has not even started to prove himself on a regular basis. To be frank I would rather have Steed back left side.

glad someone else agrees with me about modric.... not really said anything as everyone seems to love him and i cant understand why. he shows flashes of brilliance...so what, even jenas does that lol. i think hes a very overrated player tbh.... iv heard fans say if we dont make top 4 we may lose him.... who to exactly ??? dont think any of the top four would want him.
He is more than capable of taking a game by the scruff of it's neck and winning it himself, but he has yet to do it. I don't think the injury helped him, couldn't fault him before it but when he came back against West Ham he looked so frigid (which is understandable), I just don't think he's fully recovered from it, or adapted to the fact we have changed since then.
Good debate.
"You score goals as a kid. Then you grow up stupid and become a goalkeeper."
Is he capable of dictating a game? Remind me of a single game where he has done so in our colours. I'm not doubting flashes of brilliance but as FF says Jenas has done that too.
maybe if he had any players who understand the game it would not be just flashes of his briliance. it is so frustrating to watch his movement when he passes the ball to some brainless idiot who knows just to run like forest gump on the wing (this is just one of many exaples) and forces a cross in the box, and luka stays with his arms spread realizing most of his teammates are lumberjacks that would fit in lovley in a team like Birmingham.
i havent seen single double pass when your team is near the box, looks like everyone is just trying to advance on the scorrer / assister list.
no actions from the middle, it all looks the same - pass to winger, cross , eyes closed and pray for lucky goal. Only diference in your play than Birminghams is that you have FASTER wings... cos that is only thing you play, quality tehnical players seem to be choked and their potential is only 10% used (this goes for mod, kranj, bently, pav and gudj) in this old and boring HR game style.
get yourself a modern brave manager or trainer and then talk about modric... you lot dont know what you have in your team and no matter that in last two seassons THFC has become my fav EPL club i am begining to hope for you to lose him to any top 4 club just to see what he can do and how consistent can he be when a team plays real football

Two words, grotesquely over-rated... Or is that three..
"You score goals as a kid. Then you grow up stupid and become a goalkeeper."
lol, this offended you???
bah, for a moment i wanted to write you back, but no need to argue with "brave" forum geeks.. woul like to meet you in person m8
Modern manager I agree. Rep +1
Modric is the best.. along with Bale and Lennon and Kranj.
He ended up playing very deep yesterday which did not help his cause. Also please remember his injury... hopefully he will kick @ss next season.
never been a fan of his, always thought he was a bit over rated.Think he can do well in italy.dont mind swaping him for diego,he deserves a better league..
Whoever invented football should be worshipped as a God.
I honestly think we play the wrong formation.
4-5-1 with Modric in behind a lone striker. He is way more dangerous there than on the left.
............Sandro......Palacios............
Lennon...................................Bale
...................Modric......................
.....................Pav........................
We need to shake up our front line, bring in Zarate and Dzeko and ship out Crouch and Defoe. We dominate games as we can all see for ourselves but we dont have a match winner up top.

People seem to forget the form he produced at the start of the season when we were running riot against teams ..when lennon plays modrics game improves hugely.
I think modric was one of our best players yesterday.
Our problem were the strikers --> crouch.
Cant even score vs a championschip side ffs.
Defoe and pav looked fooooked as well.
