Jamie O'Hara is set to sit down with Tottenham Hotspur over the summer before making any decision on his future.
The combative midfielder has spent the 2009/10 campaign on loan at struggling Portsmouth, enduring the rollercoaster of emotions which have accompanied life on the South Coast this term.
He has been a rare bright spark in an otherwise disastrous campaign for Pompey, with regular football helping to bring the best out of him.
As a self-confessed Spurs fanatic, O'Hara hopes he can return to White Hart Lane at the end of the season and reignite his career under Harry Redknapp.
He does, however, accept that he cannot afford to spend any more time warming the bench and admits he would be prepared to move on if told he no longer figures in Tottenham's long-term plans.
"I'll sit down with Harry Redknapp in the summer and have a discussion. I need to know if I'm in his plans next season," O'Hara told the Daily Mail.
Excited
"It will be a big decision because I've always wanted to play for Tottenham, but I'm 24 next season and, after this season, it would be hard to get my head around sitting on the bench again.
"I don't want to be one of those players who comes on for the last 20 minutes and does a job. I want to play 90 minutes and be the best player. If I'm still going to be classed as the squad player then I need to know.
"Tottenham are a big club and will always be striving to do more. There will always be competition for places and big-names signings.
"I've got to look to move on or I'll be 28, wondering what I've done for the past four years. It's a big summer for me with some hard decisions to make.
"I'm excited because this season I've put myself in a position where hopefully there will be big clubs who want to take me."
While O'Hara has enjoyed a productive campaign in regards to getting his name back in the headlines, he admits he has struggled as much as anybody else to get to grips with the ongoing Portsmouth circus.
Fiasco
"It started taking its toll after Christmas,' says O'Hara, who went back to Spurs briefly in January before signing another loan deal.
"The owners were leaving and Paul Hart left. We lost Younes Kaboul, who was having a fantastic season, and there was talk of other players like Aruna Dindane not being allowed to play any more. It was becoming a fiasco.
"Quincy [Owusu-Abeyie] came in, did fantastic and was gone. I came in one day and said: 'Where's Quincy?' They said: 'Oh, he's gone to Qatar'.
"All the lads said we'd stick together. We bonded really quickly and to think we got to Wembley (for an FA Cup semi-final against Spurs on Sunday) with a team thrown together in a week is amazing. But too many things were happening.
"You're in the limelight for all the wrong reasons and you can't compete in the Premier League when it's like that.
"It's sad we'll be relegated because believe we're better than some of the other teams down there. I hope they get an investor, rebuild and have a go at getting back up next year, but you look at Leeds and hope that doesn't happen."
A bit of a nothing page filler story, but i bloody hope he stays. Looked really good for Portsmouth and has done for us. Perhaps not a perminant first team player ,but enough enough to feature alot as a squad player.

I just dont see Oharer getting a first team spot so on that asumption he wont want to stay at Spurs so that will mean he will have to leave, maybe Pompey the club he loves now will sign him.
He was on the Soccer AM sofa, this morning. Danielle (his fiancee) was in the studio too. Heavily pregnant!
Jamie scored a beautiful goal in the shooting competition they have at the end of the programme.
He said he was a Spurs fan, but that he wanted Pompey to win the semi-final. Whatever he says, he's in a no-win situation. How can he, as a Portsmouth player come out and say: "I want Tottenham to win".
They got him to do a drawing of himself (as some other players have done, this week, for a charity thing). He drew his left peg as a wand, "because it's magical".
He's doing some punditry tomorrow (on ITV, I guess) and has promised to use the phrase "Unbelieveable tekkers!" at some point in the day. Wonder which player he'll be talking about, when he says it?![]()
Yeah i saw him on there too, hes a good lad just misguided imo.
I don't mind what he does. I'd rather he go and blossom as a regular like he is at Portsmouth than stay here on the bench at Spurs because we are packed to the rafters with midfielders.
He was perfectly within his right to support the team he's currently playing with. He wanted us to lose so that he could play Aston Villa/Chelsea (well, now it's Chelsea) in the final.
If he moves on from Spurs, I wish him the best of luck.

Quite a nice article about him in Daily Mail, I'm assuming using the same interview material. The situation with Jamie is a very, very delicate one. It is obvious the kid has loads of talent. Problem is, so does the rest of our side. Fact is he wouldn't be a regular starter for us. Another problem is, we shouldn't sell him because he is that good and has value to our side. IMO we should loan him out for another year and then take another look at the situation. Additionally, a lot could happen over the summer and maybe that will make Jamie's future with the club more clear. Either way, we shouldn't abandon the kid yet because he has a massive amount of skill. How much would it suck to watch him playing at an extremely high level for a team like Newcastle or Sunderland? I just would hate to see him sold like that.
