Hey guys, ive been planning to make this post for a while now ,but tracking down the right thread was hard and im still not sure i have found the one i was after.
My Post:
With the season drawing to a close, i feel it is time to look back at what we have achieved this season, in comparison to what we wanted to achieve. The 2008/2009 season consisted of us changing manager and slowly buying and playing our way out of a relegation battle, then pushing on for a solid second half of the season with top 5 form and eventually finishing just outside of the Europa league spots. Was this a good thing? For 50 years our club has always had a special relationship with european nights at the lane, these nights created amazing atmosphere because of our fantastic record of only ever losing once at home in europe before the circus master. Opinions on the forum were pretty evenly split ,but the common wisdom seemed to be that in order to rebuild to what we were before Juande, we needed to take a year away from european football and, being a team with immense cup prowess, concentrate on having a good league season where progress had been made. For several seasons our aspiration had always been a top 4 finish and champions league football. Did we really think we could achieve it with big spending Manchester city trying to buy their way into europes elite, who were we looking to dethrown? The obvious awnser seemed to be Arsenal, unfortunatly, how wrong we were.
Views from members on the forum and how right / wrong they turned out to be.
Considering the previous season, this was a very high target. Have we achieved it? Not yet ,but bloody hell are we close to bettering it.
Very honest words, if not slightly pesimistic, good to see we have proved Unit wrong tenfold, and im sure he wont mind being wrong on this.
Another awesomely optimistic prediction, but are we close to achieving this? We are close to exceeding it for sure.
Slightly off, a very reasonable target for us wanting to have a stable season.
Another eeriely close prediction, they say we are always "next year optimists" ,but bloody hell we have good reason.
Whatever happens now we will either exceed this by a mile or fall just short, but still have had a great season
=S almost physic.
And finally the winner (Sorry mate you dont win anything) :
This is almost the rock bottom of what we can achieve, but strangely where we are at right now at the time of this post. Perhaps if i had waited til all 38 games are gone it might not be the closest, but i guess optimism pays off !
To summarise what i am saying is, over the last few years we have always been known for being overly optimistic fans who predict fourth spot every year and never achieve, perhaps the only thing that came out of Ramos reign on a positive note is that we know where we are truely at now (except for P Unit). Alot of us, myself included, are very negative after a bad result with good reason, but if you look at what we wanted to achieve this year and how close we are to surpassing that then perhaps we can say, well its one game, its not going to shape our season. We still have everything to play for so lets get behind the team and go for everything we can COYS. Then we can revel in the truely fantastic season we have had.
Posibility of an Fa cup final ?
Leveling premier league record for biggest win?
Fantastic exciting attacking football?
Emergence Of young stars?
Seasoned professionals playing at the top of their game?
Good chance of a champions league spot?
Fighting with City who have spent mega ammounts and looking the better team?
Seeing the scum fail on every front?
At the start of the season if someone had offered this we all would have snapped their hand off.
Fantastic season
Fantastic support
Fantastic Club
We can only get better from here
COYS

Pretty much extracted everything useful, the rest is about wrestlers using steroids.
You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning
haha that post look like it took a while. funny how i was pretty happy with getting crouch and then seeing how that turned our team into long ball humping that i really dislike him now. however i still stand by that and if we get 4th plus cup then happy days!!![]()
Sexiest Spurs Fan!!!
Hm, I deff see Enfield's point. If we reach Champions League, and win the FA Cup this year, then are we going to keep those same high expectations next year? Especially with Man City... you know... having money coming out of every orifice located on their fookin body.
It's been my life, Tottenham Hotspur;
and I love the Club
Well done, Enfield!
It must have taken a lot of ferreting around the forum, to put that post together!![]()
If we dont win the Cup or finish 4th i will be gutted but that does show exactly how far Harry has taken us!
Very nice posts Enfield. As Yidno has mentioned if we fail to finish fourth and do not win the FA cup it will feel like a huge disappointment, but we must remember that it is, in fact, not. The expectations that most of us seem to have had were for a top 6 finish which is still very likely at this point. Additionally, remember where we were last season. It is nothing short of amazing the turn around we have had in less than a full season under Harry. What he has been able to do this season alone gives me hope for the future of this club. If he continues to play the transfer market well, and remains a positive force among the players, the sky is the limit for this team.
That said, lets take advantage of the great position we are in. We are still by no means out of this race. Time to start revving the engines!

I have to remind people not that you should need to be reminded that the fact we were in such dire straights in the league while Ramos was incharge was more down to the fact the spanish coont couldnt hack it in our league its not like were some small time club over achieving, this is where we SHOULD be and not politley knocking on the door of the Champions league asking to come in.
Ramos dragged us back and nearly down until Levy acted, Harry has the money and the know all to take the club where it belongs and thats amongst the Liverpools, Mancs and dare i say the scum!
So top 4 please Harry.
It's true we have done a lot better than previous seasons and we're back on the same track we were on when we had Jol at the helm. It's exciting but they say great achievements breed great expectations, now we're in with a realistic chance of top 4, we all want it. I don't see why we can't. I guess we'll know a few weeks time.

Absolute brilliant post, seeing what people predicted and where we actually are! we will have to do another one of these in pre season thats for sure!
"2 Points. 8 Games. 1 Hero"
sorry don't agree circumstances change throughout the season
if i'd have seen we had finished 5th at the start of the season i would've been happy, but if i'd seen the games we lost which cost us 4th place i would've been depressed, if we'd have beat stoke, wolves and hull at home plus beat everton and birmingham away we'd have had another 12 points which would've put us in the title race
i am definately happy we are in the semi's of the cup, that was my main aim this season when the season started so yes they have met my expectations on that front so far

Good work on the post and as I already mentioned in another post all season I was sort of in a love hate relationship with Arry but we have come this far and I do owe the fellow some respect and trust for what hes done. So I take back my words that I have said in the past about him and I will give him my full support.
Excellent post Enfield. I'm glad you didn't bring up my prediction, I think I may have been more optimistic than Unit, but not by much!
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you ... you probably haven't a clue what's going on!

Yes we've had a fantastic season and I'm proud to be a Spurs fan.
Taking everything into account then yes, we are on course for a really good season, however for as many years as I can remember THFC always flatter to deceive so I wont be holding my breath.
