STEVE BRUCE KEEN ON ALAN HUTTON DEAL
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has confirmed he would be interested in signing on-loan full-back Alan Hutton on a permanent basis.
Hutton has impressed Bruce since joining the club in the January transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur and he has made six appearances for the Black Cats.
The Scotland international has been unable to make a sustained impact for Spurs since his arrival from Rangers in 2008 and Harry Redknapp has plenty of options at right-back.
Bruce has yet to speak to his Spurs counterpart regarding the possibility of keeping Hutton at the Stadium of Light on a long-term basis.
But the Black Cats chief confirmed that he would be keen to agree a deal for the 25-year-old, who cost Tottenham a fee in the region of £8 million.
"I have not yet had any conversation with Harry Redknapp to see if he will be available," said Bruce.
"But if he was available in the summer, of course, I would be interested.
"He has done particularly well for us and has slipped into the team very nicely."

Hmmm...
Anyone else think it would be a big mistake to get rid of Alan Hutton, or am I in a very small minority?

You are in a small minority, but I'm right in there with you.
BIG mistake if he gets sold to another club. I don't see what everybody has against Hutton. I rate him. He's very energetic, likes to get forward as Charlie does. Maybe needs to work on tracking back once he has gone forward, but he does everything else as well as Charlie does it.
Next week, we'll probably be covering an article like this about Gio Dos-Santos. HUUUUUGE mistake if he gets sold lol.
his alleged use of cocaine may be clouding peoples judgement
Hutton is pacey and tough.....and with the present injury crisis perhaps we'll need him sooner rather than later. However, in an ideal world, I don't think his passing is up to Spurs requirements....Ideal for Sunderland though! Can't see us getting the £8 million back though!
I don't agree. His passing is suspect, his overall game awareness is not very high and in tracking back he is often unfocused. He is an awesome player for Sunderland as he is fast and strong. We need something more. We need a complete player and he is far from.
I loved him in Scotland and he is doing well up north but he's not really a player for a technical side. Too bad.
Im not to bothered if he goes to sunderland aslong as we get most of the money back.
Ok his good at going forward but some of his defending at times is just laughable.
Not to mention his Drinking Habit!!!
Im sorry Bruce comes in with £ 5 - 6m i think we should bight his arm off!!!
My favourite spurs player!
Don't think he's quite the top 4 standard, and i think we have a player who very soon will be a far superior player to him in kyle naughton too. Charlie and Naughton is good enough for me, as long as 'Arry stays on Corluka's ass and gives him a good kick up it when he start becoming a lazy ****. Think the £5m or £6m we might be able to get for hutton would be much better invested elsewhere... our squad is by no means complete, and a few seriously quality players will be needed should we get in the CL!
at this rate we are gonna have to call him back and stick him in midfield!
Oh - you want me to watch my mouth, how?
Take my ****in eyeballs out, and turn em around?
Hutton looks great going forward but needs to work on his concentration and stop making basic mistakes. If he can work on that he can be as good as Bale on his day.

I think going forward Hutton can be as good as Bale. Obviously he doesn't have the pace that Bale does but after seeing what he did in the SPL, Hutton can be as good going forward. The problem is that in the SPL he could lose the ball and not be punished, in a real league he'll get caught out. It's probably just a confidence thing.

Agreed with confidence he'll be a different player, the way Bale has turned it around for us is absolutely brilliant.
Hmm, i won't rule hutton out completely, will be interesting to see how he does at sunderland for the next few months, we can build a proper judgement as to if he is good enough for the Prem.
Not that bothered about Hutton going. Was never that good going forward to make up for his complete lack of defensive ability. Best of luck to him though if he does go to Sunderland, Rangers, Linfield, Ballyclare Commrades, Ballinamallard or wherever he ends up. Not up to Spurs standard of the moment though.
I was keen on him being a cracking player for us...............that didnt happen in the end either.
im not surprized that bruce likes him,hes done great from what i have seen of him up there.the thingabout it is more a sunderland player than a spurs one.whats bruces other option, beardsley??? his poxy at the best of times
