Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Adel Taarabt, currently on loan at Queens Park Rangers, has revealed his regret at signing for Spurs in 2007, and wishes he had instead joined the north Londoners' bitter local rivals Arsenal when he had the chance. "I was going to go to Arsenal and [Damien] Comolli was there with [Arsene] Wenger," Taarabt is reported to have told This Is London. "But he [Comolli] went to Tottenham so I went there. That was a big mistake for me. My friends in England — like Armand Traore and Abou Diaby at Arsenal — told me Tottenham were not the right fit for me.
"The big mistake was to sign for Tottenham and not go to another club when I first came over," he lamented.
The Moroccan continued: "Juande Ramos [then Tottenham manager] didn't know me at all and I had one bad performance when we lost 4-1 to Newcastle United and after that he never gave me my chance."

Current Spurs gaffer Harry Redknapp has farmed Taarabt out on loan this season in order for him to gain first-team experience. However, the player is loth to return to the Lilywhites. "Redknapp told me I was a fantastic player with a big talent but he wanted me to go to the Championship, play some games and then come back to play for him.
"But I don't want to go back to Tottenham."
He added: "England is not for me, I think La Liga is the best League for me.
"[I don't like] how they play in England, I like to play football! I look at teams like Bolton, Stoke or Wolves and say: 'There is just no point for me'. I hate that style of football.
"I have one more year on my contract this season and I hope that Tottenham make a deal in the summer. If not, I will go for free next summer."
The ambitious midfield creator said: "I hope to be playing for one of the top four in Spain next season — Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia or Sevilla. I have contact with good teams and I know that they want me. Now I just have to hope they can agree a deal with Tottenham."


I know its goal.com but still if that's true then i don't want to see him near our first team.

Bye bye Taarabt it is then. Iv always rated him and still will but that's a kick in the teeth for Tottenham fans. If he don't want to play for us and them quotes are true then I don't want him to play for us either.

The business about wishing he had signed for Arsenal he could have done without saying. not the first time he has annoyed me with his anti-spurs remarks. who the hell does he think he is? until he earns the right to play for us - which he never has, despite showing PROMISE (key word) - how can he criticise? and to say he wants to play for madrid, well, he needs to prove himself with a team like us first. he's hardly a galactico yet lol. i hate it when players consider themselves above their station.
