being a celtic and spurs fan i was delighted when robbie keane signed a loan deal with us up here as he is(while clearly not everyones flavour of the month) a class apart in the spl(8 goals in 7 games).even though i dont think we could afford the transfer fee or wages i was just wondering what you would thin a fair fee would be as he is basically the only thing keeping our dire season afloat at the moment.
don't know what a good transfer fee would be. We sold him to the bindippers for 20, bought him back for 15, if I remember right, so it would be a little less than that maybe.
He's the highest paid player in SPL history, isnt he? I'd think the wages would be the sticking point in the long run- surely he'd ask for at least as much or even more as part of a long term deal after lighting things up the way he has. Unless maybe he just really wanted to finish his career with Celtic, which is a possibility, I guess. They are, of course, one of his five boyhood teams.
whatever happens, I'll always be a Keano fan and am thrilled he's doing well for you, hope he keeps it up
"5 boyhood teams" lol
me 2 mate, cheers
just so you know, we have a tight chairman who will try to get back all the monies spent on Keane either full cash or partial cash plus financial incentives/clauses...eg 10 appeareances = £x

Well im so glad he has gone and it was a blessing in disgiuse for a few reasons imo.
1. Pav got his chance to play up front. Would he have been given the chance if Keano was here? probably not!
2. He regains his confidence so if and when he comes back he might be a diffrent player.
3. While his there his value is going up as his scoring goals
4. If he doesn't sign for Celtic then its no bother to us cos while his playing week in week out at Celtic his still in the shop window. Result!!!
I would hope to get about £7M......fingers crossed!!
My favourite spurs player!
If we do decide to sell Robbie Keane (and I'm not at all convinced it would be a wise decision), we should bear in mind that on balance, he's not cost us anything at all in transfer fees, thanks to the profit we made from Liverpool.
Keane came to us from Leeds United in August 2002 for a reported £7 million, later reduced to £6 million because of United's financial difficulties.
We sold him to Liverpool in July 2008 for £20.3 million, only to buy him back in January 2009 for £12 million.
In effect, Keane has been a free transfer for us (we've actually made a slight profit on his transfers) which is all the more amazing when you consider that he's made 288 appearances for the club, scoring 121 goals.
Given today's market prices, I would have thought Keane would fetch anywhere from £7 million to £10 million although I very much doubt Celtic could afford anything like that amount, even though he's currently on 8 goals in 8 appearances for them.
If he has a record of same amount of goals to games played. I'd say anything less than £8m would be too cheap.
Super Harry Redknapp,
He wears a magic hat,
He couldn't fly to Anfield
So turned into a cat!
if we got a good 8-9 million for him id take it, i'd rather have a young, hungry CM with goals in him rather than a over-the-hill, uninterested keane that would rather be at celtic

Levy will try and hold out for at least 8mil pounds plus add ons. Keane might try and strike a deal wit Spurs that see them meet the difference in his wages at celtic for the remainder of his spurs contract. i have seen this happen to some players that move to smaller clubs, and people wonder how they manage to afford their wages
cash plus a player but be your best bet, got anyone to offer us.... CM would be nice
well i know dermot desmond an irish billionaire and celtic board member is paying most of his wages at the moment.robbie scoring goals is a good thing for everyone, demands a bigger price and helps with his confidence if he does come back.lads im not going to explain the boyhood club thing again because ive said it a million times before, but he is a liverpool and celtic fan trust me on that.
