Hi, I am a student and I'm currently doing my dissertation on how commercialisation in footaball is affecting the fans. I recently carried out a number of questionnaires outside White Hart Lane to get Spurs fans views on this topic and from these questionnaires I have a few questions i'd like to ask to get a better understanding on how Spurs fans feel on some of these issues. If any of you could take the time to provide some answers and some of your views it would be great help and really appreciated.
1. Why do you buy club merchandise?
2. Why do you continue to attend games despite ever increasing ticket prices?
3. As a fan would you like to have more influence over therunning of your club? If yes, what would you like to have a greater influence on?
4. Describe what it is that influences your attachment to your club?
5. Do you believe Sky have had a positive or negative influence on the game? Why?
6. Do you ever feel exploited by your club? If yes, why?
Thank you,
Nath
1. Why do you buy club merchandise?
Have too much spare cash
2. Why do you continue to attend games despite ever increasing ticket prices?
It's called an addiction. If the price of skunk went up, I would still pay it.
3. As a fan would you like to have more influence over therunning of your club? If yes, what would you like to have a greater influence on?
No thanks, that's why managers are paid £50K / week to do it
4. Describe what it is that influences your attachment to your club?
Use to live in Tottenham, kids around me supported Tottenham, peer pressure...this happened this morning BTW
5. Do you believe Sky have had a positive or negative influence on the game? Why?
Positive - TV money for clubs also greater exposure of Tottenham's success particularly to our inferior neighbours residing in the ghetto bearing the N5 post code.
6. Do you ever feel exploited by your club? If yes, why?
No...I'm a part time male escort BTW![]()
1. Why do you buy club merchandise?
I am proud to support Spurs, a lot of people buy directly from Spurs so that the cash goes directly to them. We love our club and ofcourse will try to fund them as much as possible!
2. Why do you continue to attend games despite ever increasing ticket prices?
No matter how high the prices, a price can't be put on loyalty and the awesome atmosphere at the Lane.
3. As a fan would you like to have more influence over therunning of your club? If yes, what would you like to have a greater influence on?
Maybe some would, but in my opinion, leave it to the professionals. They could listen to us yeah, but given our progess this season, they know what's best.
4. Describe what it is that influences your attachment to your club?
At the age of 4 I was hung out of my window by my brother and told to support them! Never looked back since though!!![]()
5. Do you believe Sky have had a positive or negative influence on the game? Why?
Sky is stupidly priced, but ITVs coverage is is crap. I think Sky has awesome coverage compared to a lot of the providers, but they seem to be a bit bias in my opinion.
6. Do you ever feel exploited by your club? If yes, why?
Naaaaaaah!

1. Why do you buy club merchandise?
To wear my colours/show my support and to give my money straight to the club
2. Why do you continue to attend games despite ever increasing ticket prices?
Cos it's like a religion and my wages go up also
3. As a fan would you like to have more influence over therunning of your club? If yes, what would you like to have a greater influence on?
No, I wouldn't have the first clue what to do
4. Describe what it is that influences your attachment to your club?
Being taken there as a 7 year old and falling in love with Hoddle's play, plus other kids at school were West Ham or Liverpool, and one's shit and the other is too far away
5. Do you believe Sky have had a positive or negative influence on the game? Why?
Both. The money is positive, but they shouldn't mess about with kick off times so much
6. Do you ever feel exploited by your club? If yes, why?
Always, but I'll get over it, I love them.
Thanks for your replys guys, really is appreciated.
1. Why do you buy club merchandise?
I collect matchday programmes, annual handbooks and match recordings on DVD. I only buy shirts without the sponsor's logo.
2. Why do you continue to attend games despite ever increasing ticket prices?
The 4,400 mile round trip is somewhat prohibitive these days but I used to have a season ticket and travel to as many away matches as possible.
3. As a fan would you like to have more influence over therunning of your club? If yes, what would you like to have a greater influence on?
I think Spurs go a lot further than most clubs in trying to involve the fans in decisions which have a direct effect on them.
4. Describe what it is that influences your attachment to your club?
Family tradition - My great-Grandfather used to supply the halftime oranges for the Spurs team back when they played on Tottenham Marshes in the 1890s. My Grandfather was an avid Spurs fan and saw them win the 1921 FA Cup Final. My Father had a season ticket at Spurs from the 1950s to the mid-1990s. I saw my first game at WHL in the mid-1960s and had a season ticket until 1982. My son is the fifth generation of Spurs supporters in the family.
5. Do you believe Sky have had a positive or negative influence on the game? Why?
It's very much a double-edged sword, but on balance I feel that Sky have been a positive influence on the game.
6. Do you ever feel exploited by your club? If yes, why?
No, not really. People are free to choose the extent of their financial expenditure and market forces will always dictate whether prices are reasonable or not. The redevelopment of the stadium will mean around 25,000 more people can enjoy the experience of seeing Spurs live in the flesh.
