'Crouchy' on the right path
03 March 2010
Peter Crouch hopes to continue his impressive international goalscoring form if given the chance for England in tonight's friendly against Egypt at Wembley.
The big striker has scored 18 goals in 36 caps for England, and knows such reliability in front of goal will stand him in good stead as Head Coach Fabio Capello gives thought to who he will take with him to this summer's World Cup in South Africa.
Both ‘Crouchy' and fellow Spurs hitman Jermain Defoe will therefore be hoping to impress against the winners of this year's Africa Cup of Nations.
He said: "I'm very proud of my goalscoring record for England and hopefully I can continue that if given the opportunity.
"I've always been very proud to play for England and I'd love to keep that record going if I can. It's an important spell. Every English player wants to be playing well and playing well for England given the chance.
"It's a World Cup year and everyone wants to be there at the end of season and be part of the biggest football tournament in the world.
"Jermain has also been banging them in again this season and he's proved he can do for England as well, so it would nice for both of us to get a run out."

Hopefully Crouch subs on for Defoe pretty early so we can make sure Defoe is ready to go for the weekend.

Why can't Crouch use his feet like that when playing for Spurs?
Hope Defoe don't get injured tonight, think we have enough on the treatment table for the time being.
2 goals and no long balls to him.
he was great tonight
I was not able to see the match but I heard about his performance and I just hope he keeps it up and shines at Spurs alot more.
I'm sure he would if we played it to feet more. I've said plenty of times before he himself probably prefers it along the ground as opposed to in the air. Sure he gives us that extra height option, but that does not mean to say we have to play the exact same ball every time he is on the pitch.
"You score goals as a kid. Then you grow up stupid and become a goalkeeper."
Well from the times Ive seen him with the ball at his feet he just can't control it maybe it's just that he got used to the long ball and his feet forgot to work.
