Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits they lack of goal scoring midfielder in the mould of Chelsea star Frank Lampard.
Spurs rely heavily on Jermaine Defoe and the England international is enjoying a prolific season with 21 goals so far.
Tottenham's midfield players are not weighing in with their quota and Redknapp cast an envious eye at Chelsea.
He said: "That's where Frank Lampard or someone is invaluable, he gets 20 goals a year from midfield, what a star that is for your team.
"Goals has been our problem in the last few games. We had a great run where we were scoring goals every week and then suddenly it's dried up a bit.
"We need to score a few more goals from different areas as we did earlier in the season or a few weeks back when everybody seemed to be scoring from all different positions. At the moment if Defoe's not scoring then we need other people to help."

Theres 17 other teams in the league that need someone like Frank Lampard. I give Harry all my support and then he says something stupid like this, just a few weeks after the transfer window shut and he spent the month saying we don't need anyone. WE ALL COULD SEE WE NEEDED THAT TYPE OF PLAYER. Obviously we didn't expect someone of the quality of Lampard, but we all knew that was the type of player we needed.

Completly agree, Harry comes out with some really silly stuff at times. It's not exactly hard to work out that any team could do with a Frank Lampard! If he thought we needed a goal scoring midfielder then he should have tried to buy one in January when he said we don't need anyone.

I wholeheartely agree with the point that's the type of player we need, unfortunately I don't remember any such player being available in the Jan window, come July that will be a different matter. Jan was all about players like Vieira looking for a meal ticket and someone to kick in the bollox so he can collect his £140k a week from a warm seat.

A player like Lampard is truely hard to find and very costly to employ, I'm sure if we find that player and can convince him to come to WHL then Daniel Levy will sign the cheque...simples

I don't think Modirc is anywhere near the goalscorer Lampard is, even from LM when he was fit he was hardly prolific.

I think Krancjar has a better goalscoring record

We had one...Carrick...but when a £17 mil. bid came in, it was too good to turn down. We haven't been able to replace him since. But can you imagine a central midfield with Palacios and Carrick? Huddlestone is near enough similar, spreading passes around...but hardly in the same category as Lampard - unfortunately.

With respect I think Arry said someone who can score 20 goals a season, now as much as I loved Carrick he will never score 20 goals.

Agree with that but would also like to point out that Huddlestone needs to shoot on site more - once a few go in he will be unstoppable = the power he gets makes the goalkeepers spill the ball anyway .

Agreed. The Jan transfer window is hard to snap up a quality player, no matter what position he plays. The summer is a lot more open with quality players moving around. Let's wait and see ey? Now 'Arry realises we need that type of player, he can convince Mr Levy to part with his well earned sterling!

Hang on a minute if Defoe aint scoring surely the other striker is the 1st thats chipping in with 20 a season. And the 1 you play week in week out doesn't then maybe that 1 that spends all his time on the bench should be HARRY!

Sounds like Harrys trying to move the attention of Crouch not scoring to the fact that the Midfield maybe should chip in with a few more.
