AARON LENNON is hoping to make his long-awaited comeback for Spurs against Wigan on Sunday.
Lennon, 22, has been sidelined since the end of December after picking up a groin injury against West Ham.
Boss Harry Redknapp had strong fears at one stage the England winger would need to undergo surgery.
But Lennon has managed to resume training and the Tottenham boss is hoping his star winger could make a timely return at the DW Stadium.
Redknapp said: "He's happier every day, so hopefully it could be next weekend. He won't need an operation."

I think Lennon will play a friendly if he thinks he needs it , but Harry will listen to Lennon and go by what he feels is right . I certainly dont want him kicked to pieces by Wigan so i think even Lennon might swerve that one .

well that is good news, COYS
Agree with Kev. It'll be 100% up to Lennon. TBH I don't expect anything more than a sub appearance. However if he does play against Wigan i reckon we will win 34-2...both of their goals off of handballs of course.

Thank Christ he is back!
Groin injuries can be a minefield of problems.
I have played competitive football since i was 16 and now in my old age only play Sunday League. I had a groin strain in 2005 and i still pull it at least once a season, sidelining me for at least 3 weeks at a time.
I am not saying for one minute that i am excerting myself like Lennon does or any othe EPL player does, but i am saying that these problems can severely disrupt your recovery if you dont take extra care when returning to action.
Would like to see Azza play 1 or 2 reserve matches first and then bring him back in. We miss him admittedly but Bentley is doing a good job and there is no rush.
"There's a fine line between madness and genius - God removed that line and replaced it with Gazza"
Brilliant news. Provided he is fit, get him back on the field where it matters. He has been badly missed. I can't wait to see him dazzling the opposition again.
Best news all week. JD really needs Azza goal wise, and we have not been cracking defences as much with Bentley.
Just hope he takes it easy glad to hear he is doing better.
Bit of a coincidance that when Lennon's out we are just a average team, im sorry as much as i like Bentley as a person and he's had a few half decent games for us, he's not in the same league as Lennon, just can't believe how much we actually paid for Bentley.
You may all recall that when Azza was injured, 'Arry was pleading with him to finish the game....Just as well that he refused, as this could have compounded the injury! I suspect that he will only return to competitive football, when he feels right!
