Peter Storrie: Considered quitting football
• Storrie quashes Utaka reports
Storrie was at St Mary's to watch a stirring display from Portsmouth that booked them a quarter-final berth against Birmingham City, a highlight in what has been a season of lowlights for the south coast club.
"You get abuse at football, you have to accept it sometimes, even if it is not very nice, but this was intimidation, Storrie told Soccernet. "It was frightening, my wife was petrified, with people coming right into your face shoving notes into our face - no one should have to put up with that in this day and age."
Pompey's security staff have acquired the CCTV footage, though a club statement to Soccernet said that a complaint was unlikely to be made.
The statement read: "There was an unfortunate incident at Southampton involving Peter Storrie, his wife and family, but stewards eventually were involved and got the situation under control. At this stage the club are not likely to make an official complaint."
Storrie also revealed that he discussed the possibility of walking away from football with his wife on Sunday, but insisted that that he cannot abandon Portsmouth while he is so close to preventing the club from going under.
An emotional Storrie spoke about his extraordinary experience moments after his Sunday morning family meeting about whether he should continue in football.
"I am trying very hard to save Portsmouth, for that reason alone it is worth carrying on," Storrie told Soccernet. "But we have sat down to talk about it, and quite naturally my wife doesn't want me to carry on and that's only to be expected after she suffered such a frightening experience from Southampton fans.
"I must emphasise it was Southampton, not Portsmouth fans shoving notes in our faces and intimidating us, so what's it got to do with them?
"It happened when we were walking the short distance to our car. There was a group of fans ramming money into our faces, and thankfully stewards appeared from nowhere, but my wife was pretty shook up as you can imagine.
"Abuse is one thing but this was intimidation. I have to say it was as serious as that, and we did think we would shortly be physically attacked if the stewards hasn't arrived so quickly.
"People have got to appreciate that I am the chief executive of the club, I am an employee, I am not the owner, and it's the owners who make the decisions and run the club.
"There was someone else with us and he was abused too, and no one should be put through that. Our security staff have got the CCTV footage and will look at it before deciding what to do next."

This never ending story, paid for with pride and fate, We all fall short of glory, lost in ourself
Bet this story has been spun to fook.
I immagine it was him and his wife trying to rob the fans taking their money.
Possibly blown out of proportion, or possibly some beered up nobheads being funny, either is possible. Shame on them if they did...
