Premier League - Redknapp admits King concern - Yahoo! Eurosport UK
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp suspects Ledley King's recent hamstring problems may be linked to the centre-back resting his knee between games.

Spurs can break top four - Redknapp
Premier League table
King, 29, has a chronic knee condition that prevents him from playing matches in quick succession.
But he has learned to manage the injury and has played in eight of Spurs' 12 Premier League matches this season.
It would have been more but for the hamstring problem that forced him off after an hour of the victory over Sunderland at the weekend.
"He felt his hamstring a little bit," said Redknapp. "Obviously with not training, it's a concern. That's what happens when you don't train - you do start to get a few twinges in games. It's a bit of a problem."
King's problem has halted his hopes of adding to his England caps - although elsewhere in Redknapp's squad, Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas earned recalls for the friendly against Brazil in Qatar on Saturday.
Aaron Lennon misses the match with an ankle problem but was close to returning for the Sunderland win so should be ready after the international break and will be looking to cement himself in Fabio Capello's World Cup plans.
Spurs midfielder Wilson Palacios has qualified with Honduras for the tournament in South Africa and is relishing his opportunity to shine.
"I am so happy that we have qualified for the World Cup," he said.
"The people of Honduras are still partying at home, and everyone is so excited about next summer."
Good news about Lennon he should be ready for Wigan game![]()

Ive said it before and il say it again on the King situation this has to be the lads last season with us, we rely on a guy who cant train and who cant give us a regular start its not right that we are pandering towards the lad.
I love King he would and should be an England start hes better that Rio on his day but with his cronic Knee probs and the fact he pulls up with hamstrings due to lack of fitness only means hes going toget worse than better.
It will be a sad day King retires but it will be for the best for Spurs.
Its hard to say because Ledley is such a good guy and he has done so much for us but I have to agree.
I fear going forward to the future especially if we want any chance of maintaining a top four and dare I say going for the title in seasons to come we need to lose Ledley![]()
I said somethin similar in a diff thread.
Pains me to say it coz the guys a livin legend, but with these twinges there comes a point where he becomes a bit of a liability; its like we're playin with only 2 subs with Ledders as a given
I think Levy is thinking the same thing as they have not renewed the lads contract yet.
It is a massive shame the Ledley situation but i tend to agree that this could be his last season playing as the situation can be counter productive at times. If he picks up a injury during a game it could result in a goal and we cant get a all important partnership going at the back which is vital to a winning team.
I just hope we keep him on as a ambasador of the club or a coach as he is the current mr tottenham.
i said this a while ago..we need to get a partnership at the back with a couple of ever presents and hopefully 2 of woody bassong and daws can do the job...id keep ledley i mean if ur a goal up and getting pelted he would be a great man to throw on to steady the ship!
it will be a sad sad day at the lane wen he is forced to call it a day!
i reckon he has one eye on the world cup and thinks if he can stick it out till the end of the season then he may just get on the plane to south africa even if he never kicks a ball!
Oh - you want me to watch my mouth, how?
Take my ****in eyeballs out, and turn em around?
i know its been discussed on here many times, and we all know ledders is spurs through and through but if hes not carefull hes going to end up in a wheelchair.id hate to see him go to someone else just to prolong his career and then do some real life changing damage.id give him another season just on the basis of his service to spurs and the fact i dont want to see with anyone else, but the club have to think about it as they pay his wages, and by all accounts he wont take a pay as you play contract either.its a tough one, lets see how it goes till the end of the season
Agree Yidno1. The last couple of games he has lost his pace big time and for the first time ever I now doubt his ability.
When Daws came on on Saturday I was somewhat relived and I was impressed with Daw's performance. He immediatley started to boss the mid field and give out orders with absolute confidence.
I feel he could be the King's successor

Hes not looking convincing to me anymore, hes obviously unfit still, i'd like to see Daws & Woodie as our 2 centre backs with Bale & BAE (why aint Naughton getting a go?) out wide - Charlies looking tired all the time (no surprise havin seen his bit of crumpet) and Bassongs not the player he was at the start of the season.
We cant keep perservering with a guy whos always injured and never trains - sorry Ledders but backroom coaching staff for you.
Daws has had a brilliant mentor in Ledders and it shows by his positioning, throwing his body infront of the ball and being able to take charge of the defence. Only flaw in Daws v Ledders is Daws just hasn't got that sudden turn of speed to catch an attacker, loved that skill with Ledley but very few have it. That's what made Ledders The King.
I can see Daws getting the Captains armband should Ledders call it a day.
I only hope there will always be a coaching position for Ledley at the Lane whenever he calls it a day. It would be so disappointing for The King to go elsewhere with his knowledge of the game.

I think it's a lot for Daws to live up to there will only ever be one Ledders, but Daws is getting better and better and scared of nowt. He could'nt have a better mentor than Ledders lets hope he stays on to become a coach he's Mr.Tottenham IMO
