Completely redeemed himself on the International side with Mexico. Lead the team with 2 Goals and 4 assists in six games. Awesome runs and playing for the team, less selfish. I really do hope he uses this to his advantage cos hes on a streak... really playing well right now. It was defenitely something... But it wasn't against the team that beat Spain. We play them at the Azteca on the 12th. What I think is the best thing about it is the rebirth of Giovanni. I really hope he gets some playtime. He's on fire! He carried the team to the Title and won best player of the cup...

Yeah Mexico beat our C team...congratulations. Nothing to get excitied about with Gio guys...in terms of talent this was an extremely watered down Gold Cup field and Mexico brought a team that was stronger than any other opponent by far including some first teamers. Not one player on the US team was even in South Africa for the confederations cup. The US will win 2-0 at the Azteca by the way which will crush Mexico's chances for a 2010 WC birth.

there again Mexico also didn't have a fully fit and perfect starting 11, I'm sure a few big names were missing but one noticable one was Marquez, countries Captain.

Either way when I watched gio for Barca he always looked like he could add alot to most teams. Really want him to be a starter

5 guys started in the final that were in the lineup for their last WCQ against T&T. The US didnt have one person in their lineup for the final that even went to South Africa for the Confederations Cup.

Whether the US played their A, B, or C team, 5-0 is an embarrassment. The United States will never have a culture of winning in football.

This is good news for Gio, even if it just boosts his confidence. Winning player of the tournament is always a good thing.

Except, you know, pulling off this year's biggest international upset and nearly pulling off another huge one.

The important game for Mexico and the US (and GDS) is in a few weeks at Azteca. Beating up on some Haitian amateurs and MLS reserves in a third-rate international competition might help with confidence and chemistry for the Mexican team, though.

Yeah, but we take our C team to competitions. Mexico, Spain, England, etc. play their best against opponents. If the US is really a football juggernaut, why can't we beat Costa Rica? To not take every tournament seriously, to not aspire to win every game going away, that is what will ensure the US will always have a mediocre at best football team.

And you can't say that 5-0 isn't an embarrassment. It's disgusting. If we didn't want to show up to play, then we shouldn't have flown their asses down there.

It was quite embarrassing, but I don't know if we can really wipe away some of our more recent advancements over one game. Bradley was just as bad as the players as far as I am concerned. He didn't use his subs early enough even though the back couldn't keep up anymore, and the offside trap just wasn't working. Poor on all accounts.

That being said, Gio looked great but I will like to see how he performs in the next game against the full US squad to really see how he's progressed. Doesn't really matter though for Spurs as I don't see Harry giving him the time of day.
