Hey fellow spurs fansmy first post on forums :
I noticed that on the thread titled " best starting 11" most people said they would play Woody and King as centre backs, I feel that playing Dawson with Woody would be the optimum defensive partnership we could make due to Kings lack of match fitness and injury problems. I am really starting to think that Dawson is massively under-rated and would like people opinions on this whether they disagree with what i said above ( and why they disagree) or if they agree![]()
thanks
Welcome to the forum mate, make yourself at home , lots for everyone
To answer your question , i think woodgate is your bread and butter centre back , in that when the ball comes over high its usually him that heads it out of the danger area . But he is yet to show his game reading skills that Ledley King has . He is getting there though .

welcome i think if king could play everyweek then he would before dawson but king has real injury problems .i think shouldnt play again this season go and see someone about his injury and see if they can do something for him if not hang up his boots and become a coach to help the defence like ferdinand does with the strikers .as for dawson i think he is doing realy well he is getting better and better he and woody play well together
dawson has to start every game he is fit for. it is as simple as that. hes been our best player this year.for me, dawsons cemented his place in this relegation battle - hes what its all about.. grit, determination, spirit.
i dont agree with drafting king in for the final either.. i think if he cant get some kind of long term solution to his knee problem the times come for the man to hang up his boots... you cant play one in every 2 games, its not practical, especially not at CB.
hes a great man to have in and around the dressin room im sure, spurs through and through, fantastic talent, and its a heartbreaker, it really is, but im sure by now he knows whats the right thing to do.
hopefully one day, if its not too tough on the old boy, he can get on the staff... i still believe if he'd stayed fit he was our best player.

Thanks for the replys, i agree that woodgate is possibly our best centre back, but for me Dawson has been player of the year with only Modric coming close, i think it comes down to we need some consistancy in our defence and we cant get that with ledley in his current state , nice to hear your views.
Also i couldnt agree more with the last post, if King is perfered to Dawson for the cup final then i would feel quite sorry for Dawson, his heading of the ball is superb and i think he has enough quality slot into most defences in the premierleague quite easily. Having said that my confidence of us winning the carling cup took a substantial knock on thursday after the Gomes cock up, seeing as Cudicini is cup tied i pray Gomes shows the form he showed pre-season![]()
See you guys at Wembley -
Got there 3 hours early last year >.> wont make the same mistake![]()
daws has been immense for us this season and if hes dropped for the cup final even for ledley ill be gutted for him and a bit pissed off too to be honest!
I would agree that Dawson is under-rated and I feel that he has done so well it would really be an injustice for him to miss the final.
i agree with that if king plays in the final instead of dawson harry wants a good slap
I dont see how you can say that Daws has been our best player he was utter trip under the circus master.
I do concur that at present he is a revelation and indeed one of our best players at the minute and would be the first name along side Woody and Lennon on the team sheet.
For me Len has been outstanding under the clown and the new current regime.
with the exeption of lennon everybody was tripe at the start of the season...
dawson has consistently put in good performances, lennon has been good but his final ball still lets him down
After last year i thought dawsons career was over for spurs, he was total crap, since then this season he's been ok , i think i would still rather have king and woody on the back line than dawson though ( if king was free of injurys )
Well, all I can say is that if our "King" is fit he plays beside Woody, if not.. Then Dawson..
Simpel, I think..
even if king is fit i still say dawson all the way
That's your opinion but my own is that King still is the main man, and that he's a real leader, and still shall be captain.. I guess he plays on sunday.. But sits over today?
Dawson is one of my favourite players, kind of a poor mans John Terry without the cockiness. But you can't deny what King does for our team when he plays. We look like a different side. However, as has been said, you can't be a salaried player in this league who can only play 50% of the games due to injury. It's also rather irresponsible in my opinion, but its his body.
