We now have two fantastic keepers in Gomes and Cudicini.
Who in your opinion should be the number 1 and why?
Gomes is unpredictable, can make outstanding saves, but also prone to the odd error (which keeper isn't) has a fantastic aura about him and a very good crowd pleaser with his smiles, enthusiasm and facial expressions. Good throw so can often get the attack going quickly.
Cudicini looks efficient with very good positional sense. A no nonsense type keeper, but not the flair of Gomes!
I'm undecided to be honest and happy with either. Your thoughts?
dont particularly want our keeper to have flair! gomes is a fans favourite especially having recovered from his disasterous start but cudicini is no nonsense and is there to do a job which he seems to be doin well so far!
im just glad to see we have competition between the sticks for once!
its simple, gomez is another calamity james and cuds must be number 1
i dont think we can really make fair judgement on his keeping ability since a = this is hsi first season is a VERY different league and country, with different and new threats to his goal to quell, and b) he has been playing with injuries for most of the season...
what that does tell me is he has an enormous amount of character and determination, he never once blamed any gaffe on his injuries, and ive seen him pull some blinders off thats cuds just couldnt.
considering harry had the ORGINAL CALMATIES JAMES at pompey, also a great shot-stoppa and only ever sang his praises, im hoping the ever-smiling brazilian will get his chance to fill his boots as a permanent fan favorite at the lane
gomes all the way. if we stop playing him now then his confidence will drop and we all know what happened when he had no confidence at the beginning of the season.

Both keepers are prone to making really bad mistakes. It's a tough one but I would go with Gomes. I am still confident that he can turn into a great keeper for us. He has the ability, it's just his decision making that he needs to improve, which I'm sure he will with the more experience he gets in this league.
We don't really know how much his injuries have impacted on his performance. I hope he gets back into the team, with Cudicini a solid back-up if required.
Gomes hasn't botched one in months...unless he's not doing well in training or something we don't know about, he's our number one for me. Pure class, much better shotstopper than Cudicini
I thought maybe most of chelsea's success was while Cudicini was first choice goalkeeper and was before the unmoveable Petre Cheq was there . I may be wrong
nope, when jose won two league titles ina row im pretty sure cech was there...
its a very close call but i think gomes was just started to settle when he got injured but cud has done well since he arrived.healthy competition for the number 1 jersey is good.
Cud is class but Gomes will be a Yid.
either to be honest i cannot recall a time we have had such talent in goals , hopefully this will give the defenders more confidence .

This is a hard one i think gomes just because what he has been through he started badly makeing bad mistakes but he kept going he didnt listen to the criticism he was getting he showed them what a great goalkeeper he realy is .cudicini is a top goalkeeper but we have to stand by gomes we must remember he was playing with a injury for the last two or three games he played and he did well
ive changed my mind after thursday night .gudicini should be the time being .parks should work with gomes .gomes will have to play in the final god help us
