im not sure about pienaar. I dont think hes as good as krancjar and so it was a waste of money and wages imo. He's a good squad player though.

I thought Steven Pienaar was a great signing for us, I really liked him at Everton but I think he's a much better quality player to be left on the bench. I personally believe he was bought in January as a replacement for Bale, the oppurtunity came up to buy a quality player that was at the end of his contract (Pienaar) and Harry took it. I think Harry was certain Bale would go so he prepared early. but then Bale signed the 4 year contract, now will Pienaar be happy to sit on the bench??? A player of his quality should be getting regular first team football. Obviously this is just my oppinion.
cheers

Versatile squad player who is a great addition to the squad. I dont see how 2 million quid is a waste of money, nor are his wages (which are as high as they were reported).
Dont think he's a replacement for Bale.
Our hand was somewhat forced early with this deal, because I'm sure we wanted to go for him in the summer but with interest from other clubs we had to get him. He can consolidate 3 of our players (Niko/Gio/Bentley) into one, and when were trimming down the squad thats important. I think Niko/Pienaar play a different game both do things better than one another but neither are far better than the other.
People were so pissed off on here about us not signing a striker, that this guy got the majority of the flack for it (at least thats what it looked like on here).

Pienaar will be frustrated with being on the bench, for sure. He did knowingly sign for a club with an embarassment of riches in midfield though, in all honesty. His chance could come at any time though.

Don't joke about such things!
As for Pienaar, should be a Regular for any side outside the top 6, for us he is cover and good cover at that. I rather have Krancjar but sadly we ***ed that one right up. Pienaar, however is good for 25 + games for us, mostly coming off the bench and Europa and coming in for injuries or to give the likes of Lennon a kick when he starts slacking. A useful addition, but was never essential or important.
I havent been too impressed by him in a Spurs shirt tbh. However he was arguably the Toffee's best player when he was at Goodison and has the talent to shine. I think hes a great addition to the squad though, as mentioned hes versatile and a good player to bring on to shake things up! Bearing in mind we generally suffer injuries throughout the season - more then other clubs as a rule - I can see him getting alot of games next season, especially if Bale keeps having back problems :-( Finally, how much would he have cost in the current market had his contract not been running down? We got him at a snip - good player with a great attitude and I think overall he will prove to be a great signing!
we got him for 3 million and easily he's worth £7-11 million pounds In My Oppinion.
and he is a good player, and he is a good player to fill in on the bench etc... BUT..........
will he be looking for an exit in this window because of the lack of first team football he's getting?
and will Harry be looking to cash in on his investment by selling him on to someone like Newcatsle for something silly like 6 or 7 million pounds???
there,s plenty of games and can see him playing a good 30 of them this season.
When in the history of football have you ever seen a player come into a club and leave after being at the club for 6 months. He isnt going to look for an exit, he sees our club as a step up from Everton and its easy to see that he was excited to join our club.
Some players do not take the easy route out of a difficult situation, there will be plenty of games for him and other squad players to get next season.

Exactly. @koi boy tom , you have to think outside the starting 11. With Niko and Bentley hopefully gone this summer, we will need wing depth as Lennon and Bale cannot play every game next season. So Pienaar will probably get a lot of games, both in sub appearances and starts. Plus, why would he leave here for Newcastle when he could have stayed at Everton (IMO an even-quality club) as a starter? I think it's obvious he wanted to advance his career so he picked us, and we'll get him games.
