Jonathan Woodgate has undergone further groin surgery in Australia.
The 30-year-old defender had two operations on the problem during the summer and, although the latest procedure is likely to rule him out for the remainder of the current campaign, he is expected to return in time for the start of pre-season training. The surgeon has reported that the operation went well.
Manager Harry Redknapp said: "Jonathan had the operation at midnight UK time. He had been in America seeing a specialist and he has now seen a specialist out in Australia who feels he has found the answer.
"He is going to spend the next few weeks in Sydney recovering under the supervision of the specialist who carried out the operation."
As I've stated before, don't expect Woodgate to play again, which is a real shame as when he played he was a class act, and a nice geezer to chat to.
If this current operation is successful, I see no reason why Woody can't play for us in the 2010-11 season and beyond.
He's still a relatively young man at 30 years old and could reasonably expect to have several more seasons in top flight football to look forward to.
In any case, I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

If this operation goes well then there is certainly a chance. If not, though, he is definitely done.

Anyone else have a little giggle at the thread title?!
Maybe the operation down under is for Jenas' benefit . . . . ahem.
Super Harry Redknapp,
He wears a magic hat,
He couldn't fly to Anfield
So turned into a cat!

Lol I thought he'd had a few inches added.
Well anderton our original sicknote ended up only retiring last year.
It's never too late, hope he recovers well.
