Anyone know when Lennon is due back? Says on the web site that he is running again in straight lines (like Linford Christie according to Arry) but when is he due to make his return to first team action.
I know Bentley has done well in his absence but can't help thinking that we are so much more threatening with him on the right.
Great question! Is Lennon still alive?? Since he went off injured against the Hammers, I've heard very little on him returning. We're badly missing him as we're struggling to get behind the full backs, apart from Bale who's been sensational.
Bentley done OK in his absence, but nothing more. He was poor at the Reebok today, I thought. Kept cutting back to his left foot and then right foot too much, and thus the yard he made to put the cross in was gone as the full back closed him down.
For all the bloody good Crouch is when Bentley get's a decent ball in. I agree we need Lennon back as we have become a bit easy to read and if a midfield stifle us we find it very hard to break them down. I feel Crouch is the problem as although the lad tries he gives us very little in way of goals. Pav came on against Leeds scored a great goal and linked well with Defoe, yet he has been left on the bench ever since. Eidur and Crouch have put in poor performances since and are still ahead of him in the pecking order. I am not saying Pav is a world beater but how can Harry not give him at least 15mins when our strikers have been very poor since the end of 09? Do we miss a vocal leader like Keane firing the lads up in the dressing room? or what the hell has happened us!
rumour has it he might feature vs wigan next week

We havent missed him much imo.
Started to play very diferently now with a real deep crosser and tricky player in Bently.
I hope when he is back that They both get a decen run out.
If however they both keep peformning one of them will deffo be on their toes in the summer as they are both good enough to get in many sides startign 11 and wont want to sit on our bench.
I can see Bale being our LW next season. That makes it congested in the middle with Kranj, Modders, Willy, Hud, JJ all vying for 2 posibly 3 places.
Now expect JJ to die via sniper bullet in the close season (IRE) so we are just about right in CM with posibly cover/help for willy needed as back up.
I reckon we will look to promote or buy a LB as cover for BAE.
Going off topic now though.

I think we have missed Lennon terribly, no one has his pace although Bentley has done veyr well he doesnt posses that pace to knock the ball behind the full back and run beyond him.
His return cant come soon enough.

Yes definately yidno1 we missed his pace, also when he`s on the ball the opposition put 2 players on him and that creates openings 4 us.

wouldn't this mean he is playable for the return leg for FA CUP?
agree. and with Bale playing so well, providing new found width on the left, Lennon on the right with Modders scooting in and out will be a handful. Bentley will still get a lot of looks.
Much-needed spark for a team that is spinning its wheels.
On another note, and maybe I shouldn't say this since I'm a yank, but I really hope the fella can keep healthy enough for the World Cup, even if he will tear our left to shreds. Few have done more than he has to earn a spot, it would be a shame to miss out due to this nagging injury.
thats just for the crazy talk about him tearing up the defense against the US.![]()
The difference between Bentley and Lennon is the way opposition teams play them, once Lennon hit his run of form all teams started 'doubling' him, this either meant a CB or a midfield player was pulled wide, this created more space for our forwards and midfield.
Now although Bentley has done very well so far he's been played one on one, we are left struggling to find space in the opposition's penalty area with the resulting lack of goals.
If Lennon walks straight back into the starting eleven then Bentley, with some justification, will be pi$$ed let's hope he reacts well. Would be interesting to see both Bentley and Arron in our starting line up .......

I think Bass mentioned this a couple of weeks ago. At Blackburn, Bentley played behind the front man and was pretty effective.....
