Wow.

I sat down to watch the coverage of AZ Alkmaar kicking off their Eredivisie season & defense of their title against league minnows Heracles.

I don't really know what I expected, I know they lost Van Gaal to Bayern but I thought Koeman should be a good enough replacement. I certainly didn't expect that shambles!

AZ were 3-0 before they even contemplated playing! Then they suddenly got 2 goals back in as many minutes & I thought - here we go! However, they were denied the most blatant penalty ever & then got 2 players ridiculously sent off!!! They just lost the plot completely.

And wtf was Koeman doing taking AZ's best player, Dembele, off at half-time? He was not playing well at all but neither were the whole team but then, if there was 1 player on the pitch who could have suddenly changed things back in AZ's favour, it was surely him.

I guess that will be better off forgotten but it really was a joke of a game as nobody, referee included, seemed to know what they were doing other than Heracles.

If AZ want to keep their title, Koeman better get things sorted out pretty quickly, altho he's now lost 2 players to suspension. I guess he could try & appeal the 2nd red because, altho his player was clearly stupid for kicking out, he barely made any contact & it was very, very soft indeed. The Heracles player rolled around like his leg had fallen off but the ref was a complete sucker for being taken in. I guess he had just witnessed an elbow to the head right in front of him, the first card & a blatant sending off, seconds earlier & that may have influenced things a little.

Weird game.
