Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter dies at 57 - MLB - SI.com
Probably only Americans and @Rivron will know him. Shame....
He's from my hometown, Culver City (later moved to Torrance).
Carter played for the Dodgers for a season but he's most remembered for his time at the Expos (defunct) and Mets where he won a World Series.

Yeah. Very sad.
Remember watching those early/mid 80s Expo teams as a youngster with the old man. Carter. Rock Raines. Andre Dawson. Timmy Wallach.
Very sad indeed. I never got to see him play live (he retired a year before I was born), but my grandpa always showed me videos of him as he was his favorite player. He quickly became one of mine. I can't recall a player ever having more fun playing than him, which is why I loved him. There's a lesson in there for all of us too. RIP Gary.
Not just a great player, but by all accounts 100% class, 100% of the time.
