Collingwood reaches the 2011 AFL Grand Final hoping to claim back to back Premierships, while Geelong after being labelled 'too old and too slow' after crashing out of the finals last year, have defied all critics to make the 2011 Grand Final. They hope to add to their recent Premiership wins of 2007 and 2009.
Geelongs run since 2007 has been incredible. I cant even begin to remember all the records we have broken both as a team, and individual honours. And another pops up... If Geelong wins the Grand Final, they will have the best % of wins from 5 seasons than any team in the history of the game. They will have exactly 84 and will knock of the Pies team that won 4 in a row in the early part of last century. If we lose, Collingwood keeps that record.
Will Jolly and Ried be fit? Will Stevie J play for the Cats? Will the Pies do it for Mick? Could Swan back up his Brownlow Medal with the Norm Smith?
Weather is supposed to be horrid, which I think suits us catters to a tee. Talk about Daisy being the best wet weather footy player in the league is absolute tosh.
Teams are in and the Cats remain unchanged from last week. Interesting to note Cameron Mooney is not an emergency so a grand final farewell is off the cards. For the Pies, Beams is dropped after a 'deer in the headlights' display last week and Fasolo is in.

Go the pies!!!! Should be a great day, apart from the antartic like weather. Ive managed to get tickets, bottom level on the wing, @spurs2rise are you going.
Hey nice tickets! Cant be unhappy with that at all! I got tickets through the Geelong Member Ballot in 07, 08 and 09. Missed out this year, and didnt bother trying to get tickets after that. I am happy to watch it on TV for a different perspective.
In 07 I was standing room on Level 1 near the pocket. In 08 I was on level 1 near the point post about 6 rows back. In 09 I was in the VERY last row on the top level on the wing.
Antarctic weather?? Pfft we are used to that down at Skilled Stadium haha
I wonder if it's going to be on here in the US. They usually play the big games on ESPN, I think they come on around midnight local time. We don't get an awful lot of coverage stateside but I love watching, it's a great game.
Yea im over the moon with my tickets. similar ones to were I was sitting for the two grand finals last year. Also I lined up behind Scott Pendlebury today when I was buying Fifa. May my day lol
What day and what time is the game?
I went to a West Coast Eagles vs Collingwood match back in 2008 and I loved it. I've also enjoyed watching it on TV whenever I have. I'd like to watch more often but it's hard to find the time to do so. Always make sure I watch the Grand Final though.
Hope Geelong win it.
i wanna see some football players or from other sports take these hits..
some of the videos i have seen 3 years ago have some guys jumping with their knees into others guys faces necks and chest..
this sport aint for everybody.. and thats good..
As much as the physicality of AFL is evident, the skills and fitness that the players have is remarkable. 50m pass, lace out to a player sprinting on a 45degree angle and he wont have to break stride to mark the ball in front of his face. Get around it people
An NFL great (cant remember who it was now), after seeing a match of AFL said that he has never seen a game that asks for peak physical fitness as well as skill and that the force players hit each other with he would never play without pads... yet the players bounce back up.
Don't get me wrong, i have nothing against a bit of physicality (in this case maybe more then just a bit) ..
But this isnt a sport for everyone, kinda like MMA or other similar things.. you cant go in there unprepared otherwise you will get murdered..
So it is obvious that they are very fit do to their job here..
I would like to say, i wanna try this out but i need my bones intact still.. cause i am not ready to take these hits and bounce right back to my feet...
