COMMENT:
Tottenham Hotspur host Bolton Wanderers in their last home match at White Hart Lane in season 2009-10 knowing that nothing but the maximum three points will be acceptable as the race to secure fourth place enters the final straight. Spurs lost their last League game to Manchester United 3-1 with Ledley King scoring his 10th Premier League goal in his career from a Gareth Bale corner. United were rightly awarded two penalties, which Ryan Giggs tucked away, and in between Luis Nani scored a fine solo goal. The match marked a welcome return for Aaron Lennon, who played his first game of 2010 for Spurs.
Last time out Bolton, who are still not secure of their Premier League place next season, were 2-0 up at home to relegated Portsmouth through a first half brace from Aruna Dindane but allowed Pompey to level the match 2-2 in the second half. This will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs this season with the reverse fixture at Bolton last October finishing in a 2-2 draw with Croatians Niko Kranjcar and Luka Modric scoring for Spurs. The clubs were drawn together in the fifth round of the FA Cup where Jermain Defoe scored Tottenham's goal in a 1-1 draw at the Reebok Stadium.
The replay at White Hart Lane was a comfortable win for Spurs with Roman Pavlyuchenko scoring twice and Bolton adding to Tottenham's scoresheet with own goals from goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen after a Wilson Palacios cross and defender Andrew O'Brien who turned a Gareth Bale cross into his own net.
Bolton have the edge in Premier League meetings with eight wins to Spurs' seven, with six games drawn. Tottenham have the better overall record in the 99 matches played so far between the clubs with 43 wins to the Trotter's 36 with 20 games drawn. Spurs on loan attacker Eidur Gudjohnsen started his English career with Bolton Wanderers and Bolton's current squad includes former Tottenham midfielder Sean Davis.

nothing less than a win is acceptable here, city and villa play each other and liverpool host chelsea so we could take a huge step towards 4th next saturday and if we don't grab it we won't finish 4th, simples, we don't deserve CL football if we can beat arsenal and chelsea at home and not beat bolton
team:
gomes, kaboul, bassong, dawson (c), assou-ekotto, lennon, palacios, modric, bale, gudjohnsen, defoe
subs:
alnwick, k walker, dervite, huddlestone, bentley, pavlyuchenko, crouch
give ledders a rest for the vital game at the wastelands on wednesday, we can't afford to lose him, and if we can't beat bolton without him we should be in the bottom half of the table, we need azza fit for this, it is key, they will stick 3 on bale and that will mess up our game big time, so having azza on the other side will distract them a bit, eidur in to replace pav who doesn't look sharp, eidur is a clever player and will open them up more than pav would imo, we need palacios to hassle and harry in there to stop bolton trying to bully us, we need some attacking flair in the middle so luka should play in there
prediction: 2-0 spurs - dawson and defoe
( Click to show/hide )
I will as always settle for a cracking peformance. With that comes the result.
Was a tough place to go in the reverse fixture, but at the lane we should walk over this lot. The good news for us now is that Bolton are pretty much safe and wont be fighting too hard.
Prediction:
Spurs 4-0 Bolton
Lets send a message to city that we will take something at eastlands and take 4th spot, bunch of mercinaries.
You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning
I think Bentley should start and Harry gives Lennon 20-30 Minutes. As Woody said, we must win this game and hope for a good result at City - Villa. Villa just scored a goal against Birmingham so they already have 64 points.
My team:
Gomes; Kaboul, Dawson, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto; Bentley, Modric, Palacios (let's gice Hudd a break), Bale; Defoe, Gudjohnsen
Hope we score a few goals to get some confidence for the big game against City..
Yep, defo another must win game - they all are now!
COYS
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you ... you probably haven't a clue what's going on!
With Villa breathing down our necks and City not far behind this is a must win. Anything less and we've messed up our season.

I hate Bolton and I hate Kevin Davies. Please let this be a comforable win.
steventhfc (27-04-2010)
It'll be another arse-clenching 2-1 win. Put a monkey on it...
The first 3 out of 9 points this Saturday. We can do this.
A win would be perfect. in my mind a win would pretty much knock out the bindippers, and then our game against City will determine if we clear room over Villa or City. i don't care if we look like monkeys humping a doorknob for 93 minutes and get the winner in the 94th for a 1-0 win. i just want 3 points from this game.
Sexiest Spurs Fan!!!

This is the situation where Harry has to perform. Use his mojo to brainwash the players to keep their minds on Bolton game!
spurs we need this winn come on
3pts lads lets go and get em!
3 POINTS PLEASE. thats all that matters
I would go.
Gomes, Kaboul, Daws, Bassong, A. Ekotto, Bentley(Lennon getting a half) Hudd, Modric, Bale, Pav, Defoe.
Bolton at home is not a game we really need Palacios.... its a game I expect to attack attack attack with not much coming the other way. Save him and King for the wednesday and give lennon 45 mins so he is up to pace and ready to start against City.
You don't know what it's like being a Tottenham fan
