Lawrenson had a good week last time out with eight correct results, including one perfect score.
SATURDAY
Aston Villa v Wolves (1245 GMT)
![]()
Prediction: 2-1
I thought the extra games from the Carling Cup and FA Cup might start to affect Villa as happened last year, but they've got the scent of fourth place in their nostrils, have a stronger squad this time, and Martin O'Neill can change things around a bit if he wants.
It was a really good away win at Burnley for Wolves but I don't see them getting anything here. I think they will be OK this season though, they just seem to be able to nick a win when they really need to and I think they will do just enough to stay up.
Everton v Bolton
![]()
Prediction: 2-0
Everton have been playing some really good football, they have Arteta back which is a big bonus, as is Jagielka. Can they get into Europe? No, I think they have just a bit too much to do.
Bolton have just got their act together in time. I think Owen Coyle knew exactly what Burnley had to offer and exactly what Bolton had to offer, and he thought Bolton had better players. He just needs to keep them up and then start to build his own team in the summer.
Portsmouth v Hull
![]()
Prediction: 1-1
Portsmouth are down and I'm not sure how the players will look at it, hopefully they will say, 'let's have a real go at it' as they're playing for their futures, but for the team as a whole, the pressure's off completely.
Hull have struggled to get anything away but for Iain Dowie's first match he's rather go to Portsmouth than Man Utd. Fans have complained about his appointment but what do they want?
You are not going to get a top-name manager because they don't want to come in just for nine games. Besides, Dowie is a decent boss, and new managers often have a honeymoon period.
Stoke v Tottenham
![]()
Prediction: 2-1
Stoke are very comfortable with what they've got, but they can play good football as well as all the long throws and they do it in different ways.
I'm still not convinced by Tottenham away from home - you can get at them. At home you fancy them against anyone but can you say that away? No.
Sunderland v Birmingham
![]()
Prediction: 2-0
I think Sunderland will win this one, they have drawn a lot of games recently but are starting to think about edging to safety.
Birmingham are looking up the table to where they can go, which is great for them. I feared the worst for Alex McLeish when the new owners came in because he wasn't their appointment, but he has just kept on winning and done a fantastic job.
Wigan v Burnley
![]()
Prediction: 2-1
You just don't know what you're going to get with Wigan, they beat Liverpool and lose 4-0 to Bolton which kind of encapsulates their season.
They are very very inconsistent - big, quick and strong, but sometimes it's like they've never played together.
Burnley's home form was keeping them going but they've started to wobble and it's going to be a hard struggle to stay up.
Arsenal v West Ham (1730 GMT)
![]()
Prediction: 2-0
Arsenal have a bit of belief about them. People say they are not strong enough but all the mediocre teams they have already beaten easily they play again in the run-in, apart from Tottenham, and I also think they have a chance in the Champions League.
It's a tough game for West Ham on the back of playing at Chelsea last week. This result is not going to make or break their season but they have got to win their remaining home games. Bolton at home was a huge loss and has put pressure on them.
SUNDAY:
Man Utd v Liverpool (1330 GMT)
![]()
Prediction: 1-1
As the season draws towards the finale they get stronger and stronger. I tipped Chelsea at the start of the season, but if someone would let me change to Man Utd I would be very happy.
I expect Benitez will play a flat back eight! The thing for Liverpool is that Torres is starting to look really sharp and dangerous and he frightens United.
Fulham v Man City
![]()
Prediction: 0-2
I think Fulham could be a bit jaded after their big game against Juventus on Thursday.
It seems City are no different away than they were under Mark Hughes. Mancini obviously got into them at half-time last week at Sunderland and they were much better, creating lots of chances.
Blackburn v Chelsea (1600 GMT)
![]()
Prediction: 1-2
Blackburn always give anyone a game at home, they have a good record at Ewood Park and they will like getting stuck into Chelsea.
All is not well at Chelsea, they were second best against Inter Milan in midweek and I think Inter were probably better in nine of the 11 positions, but I expect them to have enough to beat Blackburn.
Mark Lawrenson's Premier League predictions for 2009-10, including how the table would look like if he were correct here:

He normaly does well....lets hope his got this one wrong a!
My favourite spurs player!
He is a complete twat.
Manc U a draw..........Get some balls and go for a win.
Hull and Pompey again get some nuts you looser.
Seriously Foools at home and Citeh away..........Do the math and get some nuts.
He is a prick of the highest caliber and I dont trust any coont with a tash like that.
i guess hes wrong this time even tho hes seemed right sometimes but this time hes not were gettin them !!
Don't make any mistake - Stoke away will be a very difficult game for us indeed - but it's one that I think we're capable of winning with a bit of luck.
As far as the total points for the season goes, he's got Spurs spot-on at 52 points for our first 29 matches.
Well worried about this game.
Unit on Football365, they took the royal piss out of him a few weeks back because he predicted liverpool to lose...for the first time in the whole season! so I think going for a draw is probably his deluded way of being un-biased, The same-shirt wearing clown.
I don't mind it when people under/don't rate us for a game, we usually do alright, we all know Stoke away is going to be a battle, a real smash up the monitor if the stream lags battle, but what is up for grabs and the fact we have only lost 4 away games (3 of which were against Chelsea, Scum and Liverpool, but we are still dogs**t away from home apparently) surely can spur us on to get something.
Come on the yids
Nothings Forgotten, Nothing is ever forgotten
I don't have a lot of time for Lawro's predictions. Obviously I appreciate the "Stoke play football too" sentiments, and obviously I hope he's right.
But last season he hated us and pretty much predicted us to lose every week - he was one voice of many that we enjoyed proving wrong. His predictions were meaningless then and they're just as meaningless now, when he predicts that we'll win.
If he's right I'll be over the moon. I reckon it's going to be a close match, but you guys have got the better team on paper and you've arguably got more to play for - being the Stokie that I am, I'm hoping for a Stoke win, but for a neutral to predict a Stoke win on this occasion is either bold or stupid.
haha he got the scoreline right, just wrong teams
Hey Mark!![]()
Hah have that you silly prick , go bum Hansen now you pair of cnuting mugs!
I can't stand him. He obviously has it in for us as he shows in his predictions every week. Even on motd Lineker asked if it was possible for us to finish in the top 4 "no chance" was his reply, no elaberation just a simple no. Now I still thinks it's unlikely we will but to suggest it's impossible is pathetic. Twat.
ha ha you feckin scouse scum!!
of course lineker was being positive about the possibility of us finishing 4th, then he goes no chance, why?, we've more chance than your feckin beloved club liverpool, i'll tell you that much you git
if united beat liverpool then it will be very hard for them to finish 4th, not impossible but with their run in they could easily get back in, but they still have a few toughies to come yet, birmingham away and chelsea at home stand out
