Wigan were superb tonight. Really took the game to Liverpool, even in the second half when they could have been forgiven for trying to defend their lead. It was about as committed a performance as you will see. Every one of them ran their blood to water and truth be told they could have scored a couple more. It was a great game, really enjoyed watching it.

Merged. What a great result for us and Wigan who were well worth the 3 points. Liverpool were awful!
Rub it up them.....and I couldn't be more sincere wen I say that I hope they disappear off the face of planet cause any bin dipper I know will never hear the end of it! If we don't get champions league then I hope city or villa get it and that brings about the downfall of this despicable set of fans and there oh so perfect club!

Well that's done our hopes a power of good.
As I've said before on here, fourth place is ours for the taking and while I have no doubts that we've got the better squad than all our rivals, the question is do we have the right mentality for it?
Recent results have been very encouraging, especially that win over Everton and now we simply must beat Blackburn on Saturday to take full advantage of Wigan's performance tonight.
Considering just how tight the race for fourth place is, it's quite amazing that we've missed a League match this weekend and still find ourselves in the Champions League position.

It was an absolutely horrid performance by Liverpool. I sat and watched in a pub full of Liverpool supporters. The looks on their faces said it all. If i'm honest I just don't see how Liverpool pose as big of a threat as either City or Villa. Their midfield is in shambles at the moment. Gerrard played confused, Kuyt looked lost and had a key giveaway that lead to the Wigan goal, and Maxi just doesn't seem to be getting involved. Furthermore, Aquilani might be the biggest bust I have seen in quite some time.
The rest of the squad was equally as sloppy. Torres just did not look like himself and both Lucas and Krygiakos were utterly dominated. This is great news for us, of course, but it just shows you how quickly the mighty can fall. Liverpool were supposed to be competing for the league this year and look where they are now. On their current form they don't stand a chance compared to City, us, or Villa. All this means is that 3 points vs. Blackburn is that much more important.
