I appear to be one of a very small minority who is looking forward to Sky getting F1 coverage. I think what they've done to football will bode well for F1.

And look how long we've wanted F1 in HD. For all the years it was available, it only came to BBC this season. Sky would never stand for that. In a couple of seasons it'll probably be available in 3D.

Yes it's going to be a shame to loose the Beeb commentary team and watching F1 on BBC. But times change. This is evolution of part of the sport.

      ( Click to show/hide )
And I have found out that Mark Blundell is to be one of the Sky commentators

its been for years in germany on sky.(since i can think of it!)

Only good thing is that there is no advertising.

The commentary on the local channel RTL is much much better.

Even tho I have sky I prefer watching it on RTL. When there is advertisement tho i switch to sky

watching on sky has some positives tho as you can switch to cameras etc.

I really hope sky get Ben Edwards for the commentary and if Chandhok isn't in a race seat I'd like him along side. I too am hopeful about F1 on sky, less blah Hamilton blah, more focus on the rest of the field and less bias rubbish that we get fed every week on the BBC.

David Croft is awful, I don't know if I can bare it. The fact that the Beeb now have Ben makes it very tempting just to watch the 10 live races and highlights show by them.

I'm not sure Brundle will suffer Croft gladly either.

I was hoping they would cater to the pure F1 fans with the sky line up but now they have included the F1 channel in a basic package I guess all hope of that went out the window. I can understand their reasons, not many people would pay for a dedicated F1 channel while there was some coverage on the BBC, as Bernie found out a few years ago. Now I get to hear my favorite commentator doing F1 on the BBC which I'v waited years for, so for me thats the best thing about Sky's deal and I could only be happier if they had every race live, especially because I'm rarely anywhere near a TV with Sky Sports at one o'clock on a Sunday.

I am looking forward to the launch of Sky F1.

If you consider the amount of information available to football commentators and different views etc F1 should be epic.

Also hopefully they have a 3D F1 race before the end of the season.

Imagine a camera on an apex and 24 F1 cars flying towards you in excess of 150MPH

Sky's F1 channel have hired Damon Hill for some 'punditry' for want of a better word.

Now ladies seem to like the Silver Fox look championed by gents like George Clooney & David Ginola. Fair Play. I'll not be moaning about what works for some blokes.
My question is that even when performing the aforementioned Silver Fox routine, what in the name of Satan's sore & burnt out foreskin , has happened to Damon's Eyebrows ?????

I look forward to their epileptic flash editing , ultra close-ups of the action where we see the whites of their eyes and little else , and ultra slo-mo action where all the impact of the action is sterilised out .

      Oh yippee ........

You only have to watch their cricket coverage to know they haven't got a clue . You have to go back to the BBC / C4 coverage to see how sport should be done .

More camera angles unfortunately only means less of the master shot .
