Defoe: Ruled out of Swiss game

Jermain Defoe has pulled out of England's squad for their Euro 2012 qualifier with Switzerland through injury, the Football Association has confirmed.

Defoe completed the full 90 minutes in Tottenham's final match of the season against Birmingham on Sunday and was then named as one of four strikers in Fabio Capello's 26-man squad.

However, Defoe has now picked up an injury, meaning he will not report for duty on Monday.

Despite limiting Capello's striking options, currently just Peter Crouch, Darren Bent and Bobby Zamora, the England boss has so far decided against calling up a replacement.
As well as Defoe England will be without Wayne Rooney who is suspended after picking up his second yellow card of the campaign against Wales in March.
